R-Point is the best non 80's ghost film I've seen, followed by The Orphanage.

Sort of a haunted shack movie.

I didnt go into it expecting much so was pleasantly surprised.

Both are excellent movies which I really like, as is The Others.

That's a film I want to see again. I enjoyed it when it first came out (think I saw it at the cinema actually) and would love to revisit it. Bet the dvd's really cheap now too.

I agree lol
From then on I thought meh and then I didnt think much of it as a whole as first half was slow and interesting and then it gets all "i seen this before" and my whole opinion of the movie sinks.

Light Sleeper

A pick featured on Mark Cousin's Story of Film show, a Paul Schrader film I'd never heard of. Great film for the most part, with a teriffic cast. While this was clearly Willem Dafoe's show, it was Susan Sarandon who really impressed me, as head honcho of a 'high class' drug dealing business. Kind of refreshing and interesting to see the 'trade' portrayed as a carefully run and well organised business, supplying drugs to the wealthy city folk - a change from low rent gangstas n' bitches n' gunz Wasnt keen on the more generic plot developments in the third act, but well worth seeking out . . .

Tonight I watched a film about a black gloved serial killer who stalks disabled woman - not a 70s giallo but Robert Siodmaks The Spiral Staircase from 1945. I love this movie - the noir lighting, the great supporting cast and the plotting that gradually eliminates them, the music - everything, as good as Night of the Hunter which it obviously influenced.

felt that HOTD was very old school, ie nowt happens for 1st hour
and thats why i liked it. pity i never found it in Poundland unlike some....

where to start....
watched most of the B/W classics that were on during xmas. shattering my body clock in process
all of which were still great.....
why they didnt show 7th Victim? only slight grump was this....c'est la vie....

showed some mates Last House on the Beach. they laughed through the rape scene! weirdos. they also rave about Saw...so Vadja? i know how you feel.... next time itl be bloody Bunman.

inspired by my Boxing Day successes, mate's having his own film night on Thur, classic trailers etc...report to follow!!

Rare Exports was great btw, not as immediate as Troll Hunter but a nice change fae american noisefests

I watched The Cheerleaders last night. Not really seen much in the way of sex comedies but really enjoyed it for what it was. Will give the sequel a go sometime soon too. Really impressed with the Arrowdrome release - nice looking picture, good booklet and great covers. Definitely need to pick up more of the Arrowdrome releases (ie the ones not released on Arrow Video)
