Scream 4 should get a re-edited director's cut imho as much was left on the cutting room floor and the film's editing feels rushed.

just been on the DreadCentral site and it tells you the scenes which were longer/extended and cut out of the film
why do....oh hang on its all about money with the Yanks!
its really stupid, greedy and ignorant of the company not to release an uncut SCREAM 4

The Weinsteins still didn't release an uncut dvd of the first SCREAM film
the UK R2 is non anamorphic and cut off course as R1

US companies esp just have money on their minds and nothing else
bastards

According to moviecencorship it's mainly just dialogue that's cut

Scream 4 (Comparison: Theatrical Version - UK Version / Pay-per-View Cut) - Movie-Censorship.com

Why ? Don't get idea of cutting and adding deleting etc odd word here and there especially sometimes if it isn't swearing or offensive words,

Ps yes the editing was bad in the barn scene where he stabs Gale he didn't even touch here and it was very noticeable,
Well more of hitting at the side with a joke knife that slides in, either way he didn't touch / stab her

The PPV version is an interesting variation and shows the movie was not really "completed" when it was released in theaters.

The footage I mentioned are some of the "deleted scenes" which were not included in any version but did pop up as extras on some releases.

Like this one:

Anyway, personally I would be interested in a new director's cut...

Didn't notice that I think but maybe it's another example of the film's production being rushed...

It has been a while since I've seen it but is it not because each Stab film starts off with people watching the opening scene from the previous Stab film like at the beginning of the Scream 4? So the film Stab 7 starts off with the opening of Stab 6
