It's still available direct (page 3) but I don't think there will be a repress when it's gone. http://codereddvd.bigcartel.com/products |

As for another western set in snow - Jeremiah Johnson is outstanding. I'd never seen it until around four years ago, but now its one of my favourite westerns. |

Paranormal Activity 4 - AKA The Film That Made Me Give Up On The Multiplex. Admittedly a film like this attracts a certain audience but never have I been in the company of such low attention span, popcorn-rustling, talking-and-texting simpletons in my life. During the first minute's obligatory introductory backstory featuting Katie from the original film one person actually said, with no trace of irony, "huh...isn't this just the first one?". Sigh. Anyway, the film itself. If you've seen the others you'll know what to expect. Long lingering shots of people sleeping, people recording things for no apparent reason whatsoever in the first act, the typical jump scares (this time round the family have a cat so, y'know) and a (sort of) twist which renders the previous 80 minutes fairly nonsensical and raises more questions than it answers, all captured through modern technology like iPhones, webcams and the XBox's Kinect (no, really). The film does nothing at all to further the story of the previous films and once the credits roll you'll feel nothing but a huge sense of disappointment. Avoid at all costs. |

Red Lights. Not bad, bit dissapointing for the third act but otherwise interesting and with a great cast including cillian murphy, sigourney weaver, elizabeth olsen and of course De niro. Feels a lot less like deniro pimping himself out for cash with this one, and it looks lovely on blu-ray. |

You would.

The Evil (Gus Trikonis, 1977). This being a vhs rip from 23rd Century, my review will not concentrate on the PQ You know you're in for a treat when a shoddily superimposed title hovers over the "real" title of a film. so as I sat preparing to watch "House Of Evil", I had a sudden case of preja vu, but then the medicine kicked in.... Richard Crenna and a bunch of "types" investigate an old house with a shady past (Hasn't anyone seen The Haunting????? HELLO??) with a view to turning it into a REHAB centre (the mind b o g g l e s here...though I did think for a moment it was going to "pre empt" an obscure little delight called Love Potion No 9......UK film etc NOT THAT ONE.....but it doesn't "go there" as such) What we do get is a lot of folk flying about the place. Oh, and Victor Buono. SOLD!!! As pedestrian as the preceding 80 minutes are, it stirs into action in the last part....IMO. Ahem. Surely the Wachowski Bros have seen this, as it predates a certain sequence in a certain sequel of theirs imo. Or maybe I need to drink less whilst reviewing stuff.....
