Dean Cain in good film shocker!

He plays a white collar worker in over his head after ripping off an especially dangerous crook (voiced by Danny trejo). The film is set almost entirely in Cains car with dialouge over mobile phone as he drives about lost somewhere between california and nevada, his carefully developed plan slowly unravelling before him. Its 80 minutes and engaging for all of it, really keeping the suspense going. Its dirt cheap to pick up as well so i'd highly reccomend giving this one a try.
I remember catching this late on TV years ago and really enjoying it. Must pick it up at some point if its cheap as I'd love to see it again.

Just finished The American Friend, which I really enjoyed, especially the central performances of Bruno Ganz and Dennis Hopper. First time I've seen a Wim Wenders film but I have Paris, Texas and Wings of Desire waiting in the wings.

Two sublime films lined up there. I don't do lists or anything, but Paris,Texas is up there for my favourite film of all time, just a stunning film. Wim Wenders is brilliant.

I think American friend is the best adaptation of a Patricia highsmith novel out there, actually edges out Talented mr ripley and Strangers on a train for me. Dennis hopper makes an excellent Ripley and Wim wenders sits up there with Werner Herzog, Fritz lang, carl theodore dryer, Robert Wiene and F.W Murnau as one of the great German Filmmakers. (I always get tempted to stick leni riefenstahl in there but don't for obvious reasons.)

Finished the evening up with...

massacreinrome.jpg

A dramatisation of the massacre of civilians in Rome by nazi forces in repriasal for a bombing that killed German troops. Excellent filmmaking that I had sadly missed until now, mainly because ever since the days of vhs i've seen copies floating about all over the place. The argent version looks great btw. A very tense and beautifully shot movie that manages to present the nazi era in decline brilliantly. Great central performances from all involved including Richard Burton, leo mckern and marcello mastroianni.

And this is what I watched last week (March 25-31):

There are three posters for Sightseers because I watched it three times and the same goes for Evil Dead 2, which I watched twice.

What did you think of Rise Of The Gaurdians? I quite liked it.
