Forbidden Photos of a Lady Above Suspicion

Luciano Ercoli's debut. An unconventional giallo in that it doesn't adhere to the usual template of the genre - there's no mysterious killer and hardly any murders. Instead it's a rather more psychological piece as its leading lady (Dagmar Lassander) is drawn into the twisted sexual games of a bladed-cane wielding blackmailer who claims to know something incriminating about her husband, a man of whom she is deeply besotted.

Photos has the usual kitsch charms associated with the genre, and penned by regular Giallo scribe Ernesto Gastaldi is well written. It's all rather tame though, and I personally missed the more wild or sexy moments usually associated with the genre. I also wish I had the Italian dub, as the English track I found slightly irritating - Lassander given a clipped English accent that grates after a while, considering she spends the vast majority of the film whining pathetically over her husband. Fortunately the appearance of Ercoli's wife, Susan Scott, livens things up a little, adding a much needed dose of sexuality to proceedings - especially when she's wandering around her home in a slinky split dress.

I thought it was okay, but nothing special. It's a bit weird to imagine Father Christmas/Santa Claus as a bawdy Russian, the tooth fairy as a hummingbird with a human face and the Easter Bunny as an Australian version of Harvey! It's really well animated map, but I could take it or leave it.

I quite liked all of those, and they may actually have how I picture them.
Especially the Easter Bunny.

To be extremely specific though, South-East Asian tooth fairy is a bit bizarre.

Is Cat's Eye good? I'm sure I saw it years ago but can't remember much about it.

Yes, it is! Three short stories, all of which are really good. Remember the breath-sucking Goblin which finds its match in a cat? Or the story in which James Woods tries to quit smoking and joins the company which takes extreme measures in order to enforce it. Or the one about the cheating guy forced to walk around the ledge of a highrise by the cuckolded, crime boss husband.
