"Senna" (2010). Excellent documentary about one of the very best Formula One drivers of all time. A great portrait of a most interesting and honest person. Lots of racing footage, too. Highly recommended.

I thought it was the best documentary of the year: fascinating, intriguing and moving.

Watched A Town Called Hell the other night. Enjoyed it, quite a strange plot, it took a good while to come into focus. A great turn from Martin Landau ('tanned up' to play a Mexican, proper old Hollywood style), I should seek out more of his early work. Robert Shaw seemed to be coasting a little as the mysterious preist, but he did the job. And Telly Savalas of course gave good value as always, playing Telly Savalas. An unexpected bonus was Dudley Sutton, who blew me away the other week after I saw The Devils for the first time. Here he plays a creepy mute assassin dressed in black, and makes a real impact with very little screen time. I wasn't expecting much, but it was surprisingly good!

Also wached Morgan: A Suitable Case for Treatment (Vanessa Redgrave, another Devils link!). Really sweet comedy. I usually hate sped up Benny Hill style comedy, but it worked alright here.

Think I'll watch Tokyo Drifter tonight. There are very few things cooler than a Japanese gangster film from the 1960s . . .

Yes indeed. What I loved about the film is the fact that Senna is not portrayed as a superman, but a human being out of flesh and blood and yet as a man with a very special, almost magical aura.

From the "Cult Terror Cinema" collection this morning and afternoon I watched "Land of the Minotaur" and "The Crater Lake Monster". So-oo cheesy!

Even Donald Pleasance and Peter Cushing couldn't lift "Land of the Minotaur" out of the bargain bin. The quality was also as awful as the film itself looking like it had been copied from a copy of a bad copy of a vhs! They couldn't even do decent deaths and the baddies popped like soap bubbles at the end. Not even laughable, -3/10.

"The Crater Lake Monster" was laughable, the film was terrible but the monster was laughable! At least the quality was better, but not much! 1/10

BTW the whole collection is Region1 locked, so think twice before buying even though it is so cheap!

I'm one (of the few) who prefers Branded to Kill to Tokyo Drifter. Both are excellent films, though.

Indeed. I'd say I prefer Tokyo Drifter, it's one of the few examples of stuff looking cooler in COLOUR (that blue suit ). I think the fragmented nature of Branded to Kill means I come back to it less, I could watch Tokyo Drifter every night . . .

Just watched The Big Steal with Robert Mitchum last night. Great film, but looks silly colourised.

One of my absolute favourite films (as a lot of people on these forums are probably aware.)

If you enjoyed it then I highly reccomend RATS: Night of terror. From the same director Bruno Mattai. I have the anchor bay double bill and its probably one of my most watched discs.
