Fantasy Film Fest continued with: Banshee Chapter - this found footage film has some genuine jump out of your seat moments even if the plot is a miss-mash of well known conspiracy theories. Recommended. The Complex - J-Horror that provides a couple of scares but is otherwise no better than average. Europa Report - Excellent SF following the crew of a private mission to look for life beneath the ice of one of Jupiter's moons. Dirty Weekend - it turns out that last nights trailer does this film a huge injustice. It is in fact a pretty decent black comedy and is recommended. Hatchet III - I haven't seen the other two films, but this was a pretty serviceable gore fest that delivers exactly what you would expect. I liked Gwars title song. Both Hatchet III and Banshee Chapter will play Fright Fest over the bank holiday weekend and I would have no hesitation in recommending them. I continue tomorrow with Zombie Hunter (which I saw already at Fantasia - my review is up on my Diary thread), Northwest (interesting looking Scandinavian crime thriller), A Field In England (chance to see this on the big screen after watching it on blu-ray last month), Pawn Shop Chronicles and Siberian Education (John Malkovitch with a terrible eastern European accent). |

Last time this was on TV, I managed about 30 minutes before turning it off!

If i don't like something first time i always give it another chance. Your watching environment, mood etc may not have been right, but this was just so bland both times. |

The arrival A surprisingly effective alien conspiracy movie if you can get over Charlie sheen as a radio astronomer, have genually creepy aliens who are changing the environment for colonisation, a lot like a extended episode of the x files crossed with the invaders. 7.5/10 |

Few recent watches over the last couple of days: Psycho(1960)- Pretty self explanatory, a masterpiece of cinema. Psycho(1998)- Watched this right after Hitchcock's original to see just how much of a shot for shot remake it really is, the answer-pretty damn close (I should note that I am a fan of this film, not matter what people think of it, I like it) Shallow Ground- Despite the negative reviews online, I enjoyed this film and will definitely watch it again sometime Ghostbusters- Been a fan of this for as long as I can remember and never get tired of watching it Pet Sematary- Still the only film that has ever scared me, which is why I can only watch it during the day From Dusk Til Dawn- Was thinking about what film to watch this afternoon to pass the time when Paul D mentioned this on a Facebook status earlier, so I dug out the DVD. One of my favourite vampire films from the last 20 years and easily my favourite performance from George Clooney

Certainly would. I read the book when I was 11, then watched the film a few months later, Zelda scared the crap out of me, and still does! I seriously have never watched this film any other time than during the day, she really does freak me out, especially during the end!
