I don't hate it, far from it, just find it a weak film from Tarantino. Kurt Russell is awesome as always

Evil of Frankenstein
My least favourite of the hammer Frankensteins, but a cracking job has been done on the restoration fantastic picture quality 7/10

Sweet house of horrors

Very graphic and gory for what supposed to be a TV movie I really enjoyed this plays as a huanted house story with a fairy tale quality. The actors who dubbed the two children are terrible but unlike the blurb on the back of the box I didn't find the kids creepy at all, I was routing for them as most of the adults are very unpleasant characters 8/10

Just started hanger 18 and I'm amazed at the picture quality of this film, which the last time I saw was on VHS, really never thought this would get a blu ray release.

Conan the Barbarian (2011)

A second viewing for me with this film. The first time i fell asleep and its a much better film that way.

In a positive light this film looks good in fact it looks very good, the action scenes on the whole look realistic and are suitably frenetic.

So thats the end of the positives. The film is actually a bit of a disaster. After the opening twenty minutes whilst Conan is a boy the film loses any plot it may have mustered and becomes a rambling mess of a journey. Jason Momoa who has the thankless task of following Arnold Schwarzenegger as the muscular hero portrays nothing in the way of on screen prescence and is instantly forgettable. Ron Perlman and Rose McGowan, the two "names" in the cast are wasted. McGowan in a nothing witch type role and Perlman is killed off early doors.

The lack of interesting plot and characters means Conan the Barbarian committed the worst crime a film can make. It was boring.

I found Conan 2011 a passably entertaining fantasy action movie but I will agree with you on the second half of the film being weirdly scatter-shot. It's as if either A. The budget became tight or B. Conan fancied himself a video game character and jumped through locations like they were levels. Odd and inconsistent but I didn't find it entirely unlike-able.

The series started to go downhill after this one IMO, especially when we get to Hellworld

I have to agree with you, Rik! I've just finished "Hellraiser: Inferno" and "Hellraiser: Bloodlines" and found them both more than passable. The "Wire Twins" were "cool looking Cenobites" and, in "Bloodlines" you can't ignore "Angelique", ooh la la, as they say in Liverpool!

"Hellraiser: Bloodlines" - 12/10 for the very naughty French decadence, "Angelique" and The "Twisty Turny Twins".

"Hellraiser: Inferno" - 14/10 for the twisty turny way it twisted and turned and the "Wire Twins".

I felt exactly the same when I saw Dredd earlier this year - that the movie was designed like a platform game, going from one floor to another. I mean I liked the film a lot, but the feeling that I was watching a game was really nagging me (needless to say I'm not a gamer so that might explain it).

That's what I thought about Django Unchained and Inglorious Basterds and, to a lesser extent, the Kill Bill films. Mark Kermode has been saying it for ages and I completely agree with him.

Watched 'Strange Days' last night. Really enjoyed it, was good to see Tom Sizemore - don't remember seeing him in anything recently. It did look a bit slick though, would have liked it a bit 'grungier'. Maybe it was James Cameron's influence?

I watches Gone Baby Gone last night for the second time. Probably one of the worst titles for a film I've ever heard, but this shows you not to judge a film by its title! It's an incredible film (IMO) and although Ben Affleck may not be a great actor, I think he has what it takes to be a great director.

Finished watching Blood Bath (A Bay of Blood or one of the other three hundred or so titles it goes by). I really enjoyed it and you can really see the influence it had on Friday the 13th aNd every single slasher film that followed it. The speared-during-sex scene reminded me of the Kevin Bacon death scene in the first Friday film. I loved the music in it also.

The scene at the end where he had to strike the matches to light up he house reminded me of the first Silent Hill game where Harry Mason does a similar thing when the alley he's in goes into total darkness.
