MAN OF TAI CHI - Keanu Reeves gives his usual charismatic performance.

The Time Guardian.

The fourth and final entry on the four film all night sci-fi marathon. Wasn't expecting a great deal from this one but it turned out to be quite a bit of fun. It's an Ozsploitation sci-fi with two 'big name' actors, Carrie fisher and Dean Stockwell to draw in the crowds. Both actors end up being more guest stars there for the cash and that's ok. The last human city is teleporting through time to avoid a race of mutant cyborgs intent on wiping them all out. The human survivors end up having their final stand-off in 80's outback Australia.

For a low budget sci-fi the effects ain't half bad. The cyborgs look cheesy but in a decent way that suits the tone of the film. By setting a large portion of the action in the outback they must have saved a ton of cash to spend on the smaller moments where it counted. The film clocks in at just under 90 minutes and is a short punchy little film that I found entertaining.

The Last American Virgin.

Checked the Asda rotas for over xmas and discovered i'm on a lot of 10 hour epic shifts followed by a 12 hour 10am-10pm 12 hour beast on xmas eve... So needed to cheer myself up.

This film MIGHT have been a bad idea.

It's certainly funny. It's very well made, but the final act of the film is brutally honest and rather depressing.

Still it's nice to see a teen comedy made by someone who remembers exactly how f****d up it can be actually being a teenager. I think porky's is still my favorite but this comes a very close second.

(added points for Diane Franklins boobs!)

THE HOLIDAY

About 2 women who house swap and find love - it was well cast but dragged on as a romantic comedy it did not need to be 139 minutes.

Open Grave (2013)

The Bourne Identity mixed with The Crazies & 28 Days Later.

I liked it.

Do I have to watch GHOST IN THE SHELL 2: INNOCENCE to understand STAND ALONE COMPLEX or not?

No, you don't. S.A.C. Was made before GITS 2. You should watch S.A.C. as soon as possible! It's one if the best anime series I've ever seen. (Just my opinion though)

EDIT: I also think the opening theme song is awesome. There's something really eerie about it. I hope it's released on Blu-Ray' soon (if it's not happened already )

Yeah, S.A.C. is amazing, I particularly liked the first season. Have you seen that new GITS series yet? I meant to check it out a while ago but forgot about it.

A guilty pleasure for me. I love all 139 minutes of it. I'll get my coat.

I'm also thinking of getting S.A.C. instead of GHOST IN THE SHELL 2: INNOCENCE,I hope it's less about existential angst.
