"The only good bug is a dead bug"!

Oh, what a thrill ride this one is. Outstanding visual effects both on planet and space fleet. I am not interested in the sequels. This is the only one for me.

Watched Diary of the dead this morning, recorded from horror channel last night. Sorry but thought it was gash, poorest of Romeros 'dead' stuff by far imo. The missus fancied watching a horror, think she's as excited as I am waiting for the hellraiser trilogy to arrive so we put the Evil dead remake/reboot and must say I was pleasantly surprised as over the last few years i have come to hate reboots/remakes, after robocop (that film didn't need to be remade imo) and total recall (embarrassing) to name but a few. I must admit that even tho I did not enjoy it as much as the original and I had less than zero expectations for this it was fairly enjoyable. Dodgy acting, plot holes and a nice bit of gore to boot in this, cg dependant age of film making it was like a breath of fresh air to watch. Went to dig out the originals to watch and realised I only have them on vhs and the only vhs player is at my parents and hasn't been touched in months so think I'll have to invest in the steelbook. You lot are a bad influence, spending a bloody fortune on dvd's and blu rays lately and tried keeping away from the (s)exploitation stuff so far cos that's another genre I enjoy lol.

I'm the opposite of you. I like Diary, it improves each time i watch it, but really wasn't impressed with Evil Dead at all.

I've been on a Carpenter run recently. The last two movies i saw were The Fog and Prince of Darkness. This man sure could make some good movies.

His two best in my opinion.

Prince of Darkness has really grown on me over the years.

I don't know if I really have a favorite of his. So many good movies. The last week i've also seen; Escape from New York, Escape from LA, Halloween, Assault on Precinct 13th, Big Trouble In Little China and They live by him. All great! Some more than others, Escape from LA wasn't very good (saw it for the first time) but otherwise all great.

Escape From LA never really improves no matter how many times you watch it.

Have you seen In The Mouth of Madness? In my opinion his last great movie.

I will watch Diary again (probably go through them all in order some time) as in its defense it was about 7 this morning I put it on and I'm not what you could call a morning person lol

Agreed. I quite liked Diary and I thought that the Evil Dead remake was a stale abomination.

Yeah, I can imagine that. Don't think i'll rewatch that movie any time soon.

I haven't! I will have to check it out, the synopsis seems interesting.
