A Walk Among the Tombstones (2014)

Dull, derivative, modern noir wannabe' which takes elements of better examples of the genre and fails to come up with anything resembling entertainment.

The only action sequence was broken up with a maudling girls sermon droning on about alcoholism.

Liam Neeson coasts through proceedings sounding far more bored than usual, or maybe that was just me.

Glad you reviewed this Dem and saved me some pennies as the trailer looked very good.

It looked dark, mean and moody didn't it. I was looking forward to it as a bleak modern take on noir films. They even mention Sam Spade twice.

Something i forgot to mention was the dialogue was dismal. The best noir films from any decade more often than not had dialogue which held the attention. This sadly didn't.

There didn't seem to be any conviction to the whole thing. Even the villains were practically none dimensional caricatures.

I'm waiting for a glut of posts calling me a dick because it's brilliant.

Looks like only Reaps enjoyed this then. I watched it the other week and both me and my other half thought it was crap, her more so than me as she'd read the book just before we watched it.

Couldn't agree more, an absolute borefest of a film. Nothing happens.

It wasn't just you because I also thought it was boring and derivative.

Went to see Fast & Furious 7 this afternoon. Even crazier and unbelievable than previous installments, and I loved every second of it. The final scenes of the movie (the tribute to Paul Walker) made me tear up almost as as much as The Champ, with Jon Voight & Ricky Shroeder. I'm looking forward to Lucas Black having a bigger role in number 8, as he only returned for 1 brief scene in this one.
