last night i watched Full Metal Yakuza by Miike, starts off as a normal yakuza movie then as it's a Miike movie, it goes completely mental. Enjoyed it very much, but very silly.

The Day The Earth Stood Still - Pointless revamp of the old sci-fi classic that loses the plot completely almost from the very beginning. A real WTF movie serving no purpose at all. The day the Earth got chewed up by bugs would have been a better re-title.

The Burrowers - This Horror Western hybrid is strong on characters and atmosphere even if the gore content is pretty low. Well worth seeing but far from "the best creature feature since The Thing" that the blurb on the DVD box claims this to be.

I've put off seeing this due to fears that it would be just like what you've described... Glad to see I've not missed out, then?!

I'm all for judging a film on it's own merits (remake or not) but there are some I can't see myself ever seeing! There's not enough time in the world to see all the potentially good ones - let alone the bottom of the barrel scrapings!

Just watched Frailty.
Pretty disturbing movie, was good. Quite liked it.

Bill Paxton, Matthew McConaughey and the 2 kids acting was superb.
Not sure about the twist ending though, when they showed the flackback scene where you see Adam making the promise to Fenton thats when I though oh shit!! So it did suprised me I must admit it.

Frailty's not bad at all. Paxton directs it, which impressed me.

Yup.
Think he done a pretty good job tbh. When I heard that he directed it before seeing it I was a bit skeptical.
