That doc isn't on the Blu so keep hold of the DVD. However there are some excellent stuff on there including some of Franju's short films, a 50 minute doc on Franju, an interview with edith scob and the excellent Tim Lucas commentary.

"Once upon a time in Hong Kong, there's this traditional medicine oil company that has come seriously close to bankruptcy. However, its bored-stiff staff - the mean manager Ben Chow (Jim Chim), sleazy Tyson (Tyson Chak), love-deficient Hatou (Harriet Yeung), and clueless newbie Rachel (Koni Lui) - has nothing better to do than fantasizing about all kinds of sexual escapades in their cold drab little cubicles. Thankfully, their company is taken over by an adult toy enterprise from China, and their wet dreams come true when four delectable new coworkers (Yedda Chao, Jacqueline Chong, DaDa Chan, and Chen Zhi Ming) come to jazz up their office life!"

Charming sexy feelgood comedy adapted from the successful HK stage plays.
Lots of beautiful actresses and everyone apparently having lots of fun on the set can only be plusses.

Koni Lui on the beach...did you spot Hello Kitty?

Watched The Voices last night. Ryan Reynolds plays Jerry, a lonely factory worker with a dark secret. See Jerry's cat Mr Whiskers and his dog Bosco, well they talk to him. Or at least he hears them. Things all go a bit darker when office hottie Gemma Arterton stands him up and from there it just gets more twisted.
The case makes this look quite lighthearted but i found it made for a damn good horror comedy with some serious grubby aspects. And Ryan Reynolds is brilliant in this.

I have the Criterion Blu-ray, so I'll have to look and see if they are on that – if they aren't, it'll be a double dip.

Saw a couple of pictures from the Duke:

The Star Packer (1934) An early John Wayne western from Lone Star, also starring Yakima Canutt as his 'Injun' sidekick 'Yak'. It was a quick and easy watch.

Rio Lobo (1970) Howard Hawks final picture and one he felt had been ruined by Wayne. He was left with the impression that Wayne was now to old to carry a movie. Essentially its a remake(ish) of Hawks earlier movie El Dorado (1966), which in itself was a remake(ish) of his ealier Rio Bravo (1959). Jack Elam also stars in typical fashion, (upstaging Wayne whereever he can), and former Tarzan Mike Henry plays a bad guy. In one scene earlier in the movie there is a 'Wanted' poster on the sheriffs wall for 'Hondo Lane'. This was a character played by Wayne in 1953's 'Hondo'.

DREDD

Posted faced THE RAID rip off that makes you think Rob Schneider wasn't that annoying after all.

MOUSE HUNT

Excellent slapstick comedy about two numbskull brothers trying to kill a mouse. The little MTDSs laughed their arses off throughout which is good enough for me.

I've always found this assessment of Dredd not only unfair, but actually wrong, as Dredd began production in 2006 and shot in 2010, where as the Raid started production in 2010 and shot 2011.

As was said by a fair amount of journalists who came out of the first preview screening at Comic Con, "Dredd lost the race to release in the end and as a result will be unfairly compared to The Raid"

Also worth noting, Dredds script by Alex Garland leaked on-line well before that. It may be coincidence but some have speculated the makers of the raid may have read that script.
