I'll have to reserve my judgment in respect to Hard to Be a God until I've actually seen it (although initial impressions are favourable and I'm extremely interested to check it out), however as already mentioned in the October Halloween Marathon thread I'm not really a fan of The Mist either.

The intelligentsia is being wiped out by Arkanar's cruel rulers but can the scientists help the world towards a more enlightened future?

Can they feck! Now, I'm quite willing to admit that I'm not the sharpest tool in the box but I'm not the dullest either. Seriously, WTF?? After an hour of this I was so tempted to turn it off but thought that would be a disservice and persevered for another hour when thoughts of self harm flooded my mind. Like a martyr to the cause I stayed to the very end in the full knowledge that brain damage may likely occur.

So what was wrong with it? It was made, for a start. Actors stare into the camera trying to give the impression that some cameraman is recording the events as they unfold - if you can see past objects continuously swinging out of focus just inches in front of the lens, chicken feet, swords, fingers, rope, whatever. I have no idea, if anything, this is meant to signify but all it is, is distracting and bloody annoying. Food is there to chew for a few seconds and then be spat out, on the floor, back in the bowl or in someones face.

There seems to be an obsession with shit and dirt/mud in particular. Mixed together if at all possible and then rubbed on someone. The biggest kink however is reserved for sniffing. Sniffing stuff is big in Arkanar. Everyone does it. To everything. People, dogs, clothes, food, shit, dead people but especially fingers. They sniff their own and others fingers as if they just spent a night with Sweaty Betty and want to remind themselves just what rotten whale blubber smells like.

The dialogue leaves you confused and wondering if there is some miss-translation from the Russian. Example; "Here. Drink." "Why?" "Everyone is rubbing themselves." Another one; "Me dogs sprouted - and it keeps on raining." Most of the dialogue is disjointed rambling, means nothing and no conversation advances the plot (Plot...? Ha! That's a good one!) or even makes sense. In fact I think it would have been better with no subtitles at all.

Even with the worst films you've ever seen you can usually find something good to say about it but the best thing I can say about Hard to be a God is that it finally ended. £15.00 bloody quid and 3 hours of sheer mind numbing crap. Please can anyone tell me (Michael Brooke...?) what on earth did I not get or am I just a Philistine?

Avoid like Sweaty Betty after she's pulled a train out the back of the pub!
Brilliant review Boo! 😂😂

Twins of Evil re-watch for me last night for my 31 days of Halloween... Hmm I used to love this one but I think I have lost my patience for 'Glamour Period' Hammer films. It was an OK way to spend 90 mins on a Monday night but I remember it being much better

At least the score is a belter!

I want to see this, but will rent it from Lovefilm rather than a blind buy.

With a couple of exceptions, such as Madman (only signed when 88 Films were about to acquire the rights), it does seem (and I think I've said this before) Arrow Films, under Francesco Simeoni, Michael Brooke, Anthony Nield and Helen Mullane, have made Arrow Video (Almar's baby) much more eclectic and almost marginal in favour of the more 'highbrow' films on the Arrow Academy label which plays to the Sight & Sound audience.

I know they have expanded and are not the niche label they once were, but I preferred the earlier releases by Italian directors (Argento, Bava (Mario and Lamberto), Fulci etc.), George A. Romero, James Glickenhaus and Massimo Dallamano to the more recent releases by mainstream directors like Brian De Palma, Joe Dante, John Carpenter, the Wachowskis and Robert Altman.

A couple of years ago, Arrow Video was an identifiable label, which I really liked,, but now it's become so varied in its output (everything and anything) to the point I don't know what it is any more.

It's a shame.

A amputee women with half a leg shove it right up a blokes bum
surely this cant be good for causing alsorts of damage to ones insides
I'm not even really sure if this was real or not but one bloke was stretching a women down there pulling as wide as poss and then tried sticking his head up
But one women as soon as she open her legs I felt and quickly turned of her hole was disgusting and had more than a fair share of what ever shoving up there it was just one huge gapping hole , she wont be able to have normal sex again. here the scene open youre mouth as wide as you can then put a sausage inside that's what it would be like ,
is damaging ones vital organs really worth what ever money you get paid personally I don't think so
what happened to normal porn ???

Good god I'm making myself sound like I'm surfing some real dodgy sites but I'm not honest this just seem to be the norm nowadays
