Watched Knock Knock (Eli Roth, 2015) You see the thing is that Keanu just can't emote worth a damn. Which adds to the humor. Plus Ana de Armas is cute. Only film of ER's that the "funny" ending didn't grate. For me. Bonnies Kids. Like a Franco film made with Americans. Everyone's repellent. Exploitation Wonderland!! Recommended!! Unlike Up From The Depths (1979, Charles B Griffith) Easily the tawdriest Jaws ripoff I've seen, this ragbag of slop was also a terrible print, so the attacks look to me like theyre being assaulted by a Stan Brakhage short haha.

Gia (1998) Angelina Jolie stars as Gia Carangi, said to be America's first supermodel. Jolie is excellent as the almost punk like Carangi, spitting bile at every one she comes across until the trappings of fame became too much and she began a lifestyle of drug taking, firstly pills, then cocaine followed by heroin. It isn't pretty! The frequent scenes of steamy sex and hard drug use give the film a grim and rather seedy feel, taking it out of the realms of the typical tv movie and into arthouse cinema. Great soundtrack as well - Bowie, Echo and the Bunnymen etc. Despite being two hours the film flies by and it's one of the best tv movies i've ever seen. |

Glass Doll Films in Australia very kindly sent me their recent Blu-ray releases of 'The Calender Girls' and 'Bonnie's Kids'. I'm doing write-ups of both films.
