No Escape (2015) Owen Wilson in good film shock. Wilson tries to save his family in the midst of a brutal coup, Pierce Brosnan wanders about playing an anti-Bond.This Asian set action thriller is a real nail biter, the rooftop jump sequence made my legs hurt and spine shudder. Great stuff. |

London Has Fallen (2016) Entertaining but wildly preposterous action thriller sequel to Olympus Has Fallen (2013) in which Gerard Butler's Secret Service agent has to protect the President when er' London falls to a Middle East terrorist cell. The first hour is all gung-ho brilliance but the final third resorts to shoot outs in dark corridors - a scenario which blighted the previous film. Shit certainly blows up and that's just when Butler stares at them, never mind the bombs of terrorists. |

Focus (2015) The cool Will Smith and the sexy Margot Robbie watch way too many episodes of Hustle on BBC America and decide to make a better movie than American Hustle. The con is definitely on in a wildly entertaining first hour which is sadly let down by a wildly preposterous conclusion. |
