Default cops

Across 110th Street (1972)
A quite an early entry in the major studios cashing in on the Blaxploitation boom of the 1970's,Across is a truly hard boiled thriller dealing with the racial tensions between the mafia and Harlem, Filmed in and around Harlem,it has that undeniable feel of the 1970's with its decaying tenement buildings and that sweaty hot tension you get with a cast that sizzles with tension. After a particularly violent robbery, where the Mafia has its money stolen from a building in Harlem. The three robber's including Antonio Fargas from Statsky and Hutch, are not only being hunted by the police but Mafia henchmen lead by Anthony Franciosa who is fantastic as a sadistic and racist Mafia lieutenant. Anthony Quinn and Yaphet Kotto are also excellent as two squabbling coppers.

Freebie And The Bean (1974)
Fast paced buddy cop movie starring James Caan and Alan Arkin as two wise cracking bickering cops who are constantly upsetting there Superior officers (like every cop film) Caan and Arkin are poles apart but they have terrific screen chemistry with Caan constantly mocking Arkin and Arkin constantly going into meltdown because of Caan's antics. This is purely old school cop movie stuff.loads of car chases,(who put that ramp there) involving not just card board boxes but running over a street parade, and a very famous scene where they drive off a bridge into an old couple's flat, think Blues Brothers style car chases and your half way there. For all its comic book violence and car crashes its the banter of the two main characters that keeps the film ticking along at a frenetic pace.

No Way to Treat a Lady (1968)
Rod Steiger is a serial killer who only targets divorced or widowed middle aged women who live on there own,not only that he uses different disguises to cover his tracks. But in a Seven style turn of events,Steiger starts to confide information to the cop in charge of the investigation, this being George Segal as a Jewish cop. It should be pretty sombre stuff but Steigers over acting and scenery chewing mixed with Segal's wise cracking cop with his even more wise cracking Jewish mother who constantly keeps berating him because he became a cop.Love interest and all around eye candy is supplied by the very lovely Lee Remick who is looking pretty damn hot in this.Steiger steals the whole show with his impersonations and over the top acting

Black Water Wilderness

A group of friends get butchered in the woods...
Jesus, this is one of those films that just exists being neither good or bad. It plods along at the same pace no matter what is happening and stupidly attempts to add depth to the characters by having them reflect on their lives and actions before they get killed. Nudity, knob jokes and gore would have served the film better.

Oh and I watched the doc on Cannon films that should be essential viewing for everyone here. Can't remember its title off the top of my head.

Frankenstein is the creator, not the creature!

This is still a cult film forum, right?

If you replaced Chuck with Keitel ... it could almost be a Ferrara film

Remember I said almost.

Yes, I knew what you meant – I was just being pedantic!

I could have just posted a meme instead, but I decided to use words.
