Do the extended versions add anything significant?

Basically if you were to buy them would you get the extended versions or the theatrical cuts?

I'm not fussed about extra discs and features as i won't watch them, just based purely on the films themselves.
I'm not sure that the extended versions are available on DVD, I think they came on the 3D bluray set. Honestly though, the regular versions are quite hard to get through already At least the first film, I found the second one to be pretty exciting actually.

They are either individually as 5 disc sets or in a 6 disc box set.

However the second part of your comment makes me not want to bother.

I used to have a Betamax player. Had Raiders of the Lost Ark and Star Crash on the format, then sadly the inferior VHS took over.

Is it? I never noticed how many discs there were when i looked on Amazon.

Rogue One is one disc with zero extras! It's like a Shameless release without the yellow case.

I've seen both the theatrical and extended versions of the Hobbit trilogy and can't remember the differences, so like Stevie Wonder's driving licence, this post is pointless

I've only seen the Hobbit films once, so can't really rank them. The Lord of the Rings ones probably go 1) Two Towers 2) Fellowship of the Ring 3) Return of the King, with the last one spoiled by the excessive length and multiple endings!

I would like to pick up a boxset with the three Hobbit films, but wouldn't pay over the odds for it because I wasn't overly enamoured with them at the cinema.
