Maybe the problem with 'The Babadook' is that people are watching it at the wrong time of the day. I watched it during a bright and sunny afternoon, and I thought it was OK

However...I think that if I had seen it in the dark, I would be describing it as a classic horror film

'Insidious' is the same kind of thing. I watched it late at night, and it really shook me up, but it didn't have the same effect when Chloe watched it during the day

Well, we watched it at night, with a couple of glasses of wine and it tied with It Follows for worst film I saw in 2015, setting doesn't count in this case, it's ****ing shite

I really like It Follows and The Babadook yet can barely sit through The Shining. Different strokes and all that.

Exactly, it'd be pretty boring if we all liked the same stuff

Jailhouse Wardress (1979)

I'd love to be able to say what this film is about but i can't. I don't know. It begins with the exact opening scene as Elsa Fraulein SS then quickly disappears up it's own arse into South America.

It's an incomprehensible mish mash of scenes from other Eurocine films such as the above mentioned Elsa Fraulein SS and Special Train For Hitler but mainly it's footage from Jess Franco's Barbed Wire Dolls reused and clumsily edited. Franco even appears in what may be a dream sequence with new dialogue, Lina Romay is escorted around a prison courtyard a couple of times and Paul Muller wanders in and out of shot occasionally. The rest of the film is mainly idle chatter with nude inserts thrown in. I'm not actually sure if there is any footage specifically shot for this film or not. It doesn't appear so.

Jailhouse Wardress is truly terrible...Frankie would love it!

Got Alfredo Garcia for an Easter present instead of an egg and have to say I was not impressed.

Just not my type or style of film I guess. Bought Dr Mabuse, which I will reimburse the money for by selling the Garcia disc on Ebay. Hopefully will get a bit more and get the Metropolis blu too.

4/10.

THE MAGNETIC MONSTER (1953)

A radioactive magnetic element is growing in size. Household appliances become magnetic, clocks stop and car batteries run dead. If the growth is not stopped, the Earth could tilt off it's axis and spin off into space....

Exciting sci-fi thriller. Loads of scientific jargon come our way as the team of 'A' men try to find a way to stop the magnetic growth and lead us to a great finale.

Exterminator-2-images-3968bfae-9e41-479d-860f-5838da35aa4.jpg

John Eastland is back to clean up the streets of New York once again this time he is going to take down a gang run by X. As much as i love The Exterminator the first film was seriously lacking flamethrower action considering the popster but in Exterminator 2 any previous disappointment was more than corrected. The Exterminator get gets alot of shit but i enjoyed it a hell of a lot it keeps the sleazy feel of the first film granted not on the same level but its there in spades. How can you not love countless thugs getting set a light with a bloody flamethrower but where the film loses some points firstly is the character of X played by Mario Van Peebles i just didn't find him threatening of in the slight bit convincing. His speech to his gang at the start just didn't make him seem like he even had any power or authority over his gang. Secondly the music is constant no matter what the scene the exact same music is playing and it does not take long to get annoying with is a real shame because its a real fun piece of trashy goodness.

If you pick up the 101 films Blu Ray watch the interview it starts off a but all over the place but once they start talking about the making of the film its very interesting explaining the flaws of the film.

While not as good as the original still a good old time.

7/10

I think the original is excellent. It took me a while to get around to seeing this sequel, and I thought it was a massive step down.
