Unearthly Stranger. John Krish. 1963.

John Neville (future Baron Munchausen) stars as Dr.Mark Davidson, a government scientist working on a project at a British space research centre. The project involves the idea that by accessing unused parts of the human mind one could through sheer willpower project his or her own body through time and space. When those around him start dying in suspicious circumstances Dr.Davidson begins to suspect humans may not be the first species to have such an idea.
Played out in a way I can only describe as sci-fi noir this cracking little British thriller is well worth a go. Despite being clearly science fiction in theme, there is very little on screen that emphasises this. In fact as I've said the thing plays out more as a noirish thriller, and a rather pacy one at that clocking in at only 79mins.
Of note, Dr Davidons friend and colleague Professor John Lancaster is played by one Phillip Stone, who went on to play Grady, the original caretaker of the Overlook Hotel in Stanley Kubricks The Shining.
Networks blu looks superb despite some blips and scratches on the print.

I finally got around to watching Pulse, I bought it when the new Arrow disc came out! Pretty spooky I enjoyed it, jumped a couple of times and I'm a jaded old horror fan who's seen everything Did lose it a bit towards the end but overall a good fun film.

I also watched Shock Treatment for the first time, didn't have super high expectations but it exceeded all of them, some great songs and a story which is well ahead of it's time. I'm looking forward to listening to the commentary tracks!

Departure and Edge of Seventeen are 2 coming of age dramas, not really culty, but recommended if you like that sort of thing (I do...)

I've already talked about IT, I'm going to go back and watch it again this weekend I think, and I've been advised that The Living Dead at the Manchester Morgue benefits from repeat viewings, not that I disliked it, it just didn't live up to what I had expected it to, it's quite the beloved film!

Finally, when did you last watch Saturday Night Fever? For me it was many years ago, I picked up the Directors Cut edition that just come out recently an stuck it on early last week - I loved it, fantastic film, perhaps a bit heavy on the BeeGees but other than that, really great fun, pretty dark and quite violent. I'm curious to try and hunt out the PG version, we had it on VHS back in the 80's.

I have never watched Saturday Night Fever and have no intention of ever doing so.

I really dislike The BeeGees.

Is that film any good I saw the 80s movie, is it a remake of the Japanese movie?

It is, but even aside from that it's a really good film - I hate disco music

I'd prefer to watch Mama Mia again than suffer Saturday Night Fever.
