Both Beatrice and Perversion Story highlight that Fulci was obviously a gifted filmmaker and that many of his later films are either compromised by budget or
seemingly giggin jobs where he wasn't that interested in the content.

The Beyond etc are great but the nightmare aesthetic could be used as an excuse for choppy storylines to heighten the disorientation and unease for the viewer.

But you are right Beatrice is a great film and should be more widely seen, i'm just not as into historical drama as opposed to trippy sensationalist horror weirdness.

Seriously though Cenci I whip out whenever someone disparages him. Have ye seen his westerns??

Shrooms

A group of friends head to Ireland to go and take some magic mushrooms in the forest. Unfortunately one of them take the wrong type of mushroom and trips balls badly. Afterwards she gains powers to see into the near future and sees her friends die off one at a time.

It's ok, however by the second half it kinda falls into a half assed slasher movie. Mostly it's forgettable.

5/10

Some nice locations but I loathed it. Felt twas somewhat smug. Ho hum.

Swingers Massacre (1975, Ronald V Garcia)
Almost documentary style in places .... torrid melodrama in others. Can'be sure really as the print seems soaked in gravy. If I squint a bit one of the detectives is a dead ringer for Sean C in The Offence ... post Freudian is putting it mildly haha. Will make good double bill with Shivers tee hee
