Four of the Apocalypse (1975)

Four petty criminals (including gambler Fabio Testi and whore Lynne Frederick) travel the Utah plains in search of food and their next 'job' until they are hounded by a Mexican bandit who rapes Frederick. Testi vows to get revenge.

Lucio Fulci's western was one of those films i'd watched once, forgotten about and never returned to until last night prompted by Keirarts saying it was a great spaghetti western and one of Fulci's best.

Well for the second time i found this to be neither a great spaghetti western nor one of Fulci's best. It is in fact a great sprawling affair which at times seems to aimlessly ramble on. Tomas Milian, as the bandit, basically plays the same loon as he does in many of his poliziotteschi as Testi does his Mr. Cool act. A film which features lots of idle wanderings, even more idle chatter and random shooting of ducks...in the Utah desert.

Almost instantly forgettable, i'm struggling to type anything just a few hours later so i'll leave it there with a footnote saying that the last spaghetti western i watched was The Great Silence (1968) - this doesn't come close.

It is there. Bleakshaun quoted himself, maybe that's the problem - whatever you are looking at the forum on doesn't show quotes.

It'll probably end up being an Amazon Prime thing that only Trebor will see the first ten minutes of.

Flesh for Frankenstein (1973).

AP655-andy-warhol-flesh-for-frankenstein-horror-movie-poster.jpg

Baron Frankenstein (Udo Kier) is a wise man. Unlike all previous mad scientists, he knows that "to know dez, Otto, you have to **** life... in ze gall bladder!". His enormous success in creating a new master race (he manages to piece up an utterly good-looking but agonizingly boring female, and a pretty strong male with a nasty mid-coitus ribcage-squeezing habit) leads to mayhem and death, and also results in a few of the bloodiest and/or most ridiculous scenes in the splatter film genre. The baron's sister and wife (played by a rather tattered Monique van Vooren who looks more like Frankenstein's mother) is addicted to sex, a fact that causes a slight problem, as the baron is busy with his zombies and more interested in fresh gall bladders and heads. This is where Nicholas (Joe Dallesandro), a stable boy, comes in. He has no trouble getting it up and so Baroness Katrin Frankenstein can finally get off. Apart from his qualities in bed and to the delight of the viewer, Nicholas is also able to offer exactly one pained facial expression throughout the film.
The film also includes a rather piercing and almost epic final monologue and a nice downbeat ending.
Essential viewing for all masochists and shlock lovers.
