Contains one of my all-time favourite pieces of dialogue When offered some red meat, dripping with blood, one of the girls turns to the other and says: "Don't eat it - it might be Rudi"!

Ted 2. Ted is back, the foul mouthed stoner bear. and this time he's married to Tammy Lynn his girlfriend from the first film. John(Mark Walberg), meanwhile is now divorced from Mila Kunis and is single. But Ted is now having marriage problems as well, so decides to have a baby to bring them closer together. however as he's unable to have kids they have to adopt and he gets turned down because he s not classed as a person. As with most films the sequel never lives up to the original, and although it's not as funny as the first film it still has its moments. Amanda seyfriend also co-stars as a lawyer in the film who helps Ted get his life on track, and doesn't do a bad job replacing Mila Kunis as John's love interest as well. all in all a film with some decent laughs and with a funny cameo from Liam Neeson. and i give 79.8 out of 100.

Wind River (2017) Excellent modern day western set on the Wind River Indian reservation in Wyoming. Jeremy Renner and Elizabeth Olsen play a wildlife tracker and FBI agent attempting to solve the murder of a young Indian woman six miles out in the frozen wastes from where she was last seen. Written and directed by Taylor Sheridan this has similarities to the equally good Hell or High Water (2016) which he also wrote, in that it's portrayal of the American frontier (Snowy Wyoming in this and stifling Texas in Hell or High Water) bring the classic American western bang up to date, the only difference being trucks and snow mobiles taking the place of horses. A world that feels cut off from the cityscapes of modern day New York, L.A. and so on. This is hostile territory that completely suffocates the characters. Jeremy Renner is excellent as the hard bitten tracker using the murder to come to terms with loss he himself had endured and Elizabeth Olsen is also more than decent as the rookie Fed. It was also good to see Graham Greene pop up in a meaty role as sheriff of the reservation. Wind River has a beautiful slow burn feel to it, the story gradually unfolds rather than hitting you over the head, giving the characters time to breathe. It's also a very gritty and grim piece, with occasional bursts of strong violence, immersing the viewer in a haze of atmospheric bleakness. A bleakness helped no end by some stunning cinematography and a deliciously moody score from Nick Cave and Warren Ellis. Highly recommended. |

Nelly and Mr. Arnaud (1995). Emmanuelle Beart stars as Nelly, a young woman in debt and whose husband is lazy and unemployed. By chance she meets Pierre Arnaud a retired judge who takes a shine to her and offers to lend her money to pay off her debts. In return she offers to help him write up his memoirs. Basically a love story between a much older man and a younger woman, although not in the traditional sense. Emmanuelle Beart shines in the role of Nelly and her acting is exceptional, with the way she can express emotion with her face and eyes. Michael Serrault who plays Arnaud also gives a superb performance as well. Slow moving and talky, but well made and engaging. Well worth a watch. 8/10. |

Future Shock: The Story of 2000 AD Documentary about the rise and popularity of the Galaxy's greatest comic. With interviews from Pat Mills, Grant Morrison, Neil Gaiman, Brian Bolland and Scott Ian. A great little documentary and one I've been meaning to watch (especially being a fan since I was a kid). What really interested me was the fact it didn't gloss over any negatives. It's just a shame they never interviewed Alan Moore. One I'd recommend. Sent from my PRA-LX1 using Tapatalk

Hawk The Slayer. Another great film that i watched as a child and now own on bluray. and is one of those fantastic cheesy films that is so bad its good. And is about two brothers, Voltan(Jack Palance)who is evil and has sold his soul to the devil in exchange for power, even murdering his own father. and the good brother Hawk, who is out to stop him with his magic sword and his band of men, a giant, a elf, a dwarf and some one handed middle-aged chap with a rapid firing crossbow. The film is so cheaply made and looks it with the poor special effects from the early 80'. but even though admittedly most were awful it still has more charm and interest than a lot of the cgi rubbish made nowadays. I enjoy this film a lot with it's brilliant disco score. and there's even a nice cameo as well from Italian horror queen Catriona mcoll. 85.5 out of 100.
