A remake of The House on Sorority Row (1983) except it isn't really other than in name alone. This rehash is actually a mash up of I Know What You Did Last Summer (1987) and Bob Clark's Black Christmas (minus the Christmas setting of course).

Thankfully unlike so many of the slasher remakes from the time this is actually well done and a fairly worthy slasher in it's own right. Sure it's derivative but it's also reasonably well acted (watch out for Carrie Fisher as the sorority house mother) has some inventive murder sequences and allows a sizable dose of tension to build up as it's finale nears.

I'm not going to pretend Sorority Row is a great film, it's not, but it is a decent enough slasher film and would probably have fallen foul of the BBFC back in the day.
I like the sound of this and I think I'll look out for a cheap used copy

Music Magpie have the blu for £2.69 or the dvd as part of the two for £3 offer.

Even the Teenage Slasher book says "A fun throwback that makes the most of it's entertainingly bitchy dialogue".

Ha, yes the dialogue is good in a Mean Girls / Jawbreaker way. It keeps the film ticking along when there's no slashing happening.

Films like The Burning would have benefited from a script such as this.

I didn't rate Sorority Row at all, but admittedly I saw it just the once a fair while ago so the mind is a little hazy.

Aenigma 1987.

After a prank gone wrong and leaves a girl in a comatose state, Kathy possesses the mind of a newcomer staying in her room to exact revenge on those who hospitalised her.

Think Lucio Fulci may have watched Carrie and Patrick and spliced the two movies into one but without the pigs blood, apart from that this was a entertaining film, ok it's not a masterpiece but certainly one to watch with Fulci's style of deaths and trying to make snails creepy. 6 out of 10.

Watched THE HITCHER Blu again last night.
It really is a classic of the genre.
John Seale's cinematography is a delight to look at,up there with Dean Cundey.

And as for a screen villain, has there ever been such an understated, but menacing psycho as Rutger Hauer's Ryder?
He's Satan incarnate himself!

Their blu of Q The Winged Serpent is region free as well, I've been meaning to pick it up for ages. I have a feeling one of the Corman titles is too but can't remember what
