Sorry about the confusion with the film GROTESQUE. I read the review in DVDWorld, and it has been mentioned in SEXGOREMUTANTS where it has been said the dvd has been postponed until late September, on the 4Digital label.
I honestly thought I saw it on the BBFC website, but apparently it hasn't been officially classified yet.
Hopefully it's going to be uncut.
Sorry once again.

vincenzo 18th August 2009 12:03 PM

No worries JM. :coolblue:

Alas the longer it remains with the BBFC the more problems they're having with it. :ohwell:

No probs James... It's been rejected now anyway... :pout: It'll be interesting to see why.

Watched Rollin's excellent Fascination tonight.

Pete 18th August 2009 08:09 PM

Fascination is the only Rollin film i have sat through and not felt tired.

I admit that a lot of Rollin's output (particularly his vampire films) are an acquired taste - I personally love 'em though!

There are plenty of gems - have you seen Grapes of Death, loops? Classic.

Pete 18th August 2009 08:21 PM

I have seen Grapes of Death i watched it on a double bill with the unbelivably dull Shiver of the Vampires.

I have 2 Rollins in my to watch pile:
Nude Vampire
Lips of Blood

James Morton 18th August 2009 08:23 PM

I have bought (since sold it) only one of Jean Rollin's films and that was the
R1 dvd of GRAPES OF DEATH. Some others have been given away free with DVDWorld, and yes I agree, I also fall asleep watching his films.
They are too slow for me, and find his vampire films especially boring.

Pete 18th August 2009 08:25 PM

I think you have to be in the right mood to watch a Rollin movie. Due to personal problems I'm tired almost 100% of the time and just cant muster the enthusiasm.

I finally recieved my Grindhouse Releasing version of I Drink Your Blood today and have just finished watching. I really enjoyed this film what could be better than drugged up satanic hippies with rabies running wild in a small town. It also looks fantastic the colours are so vibrant and it's shot well although the gore effects are a bit hokey but for 1971 its not bad.

This is my second Grindhouse Releasing disc(my copy of Cannibal Holocaust is currently making its way through the great british postal system) and its every bit as good as their release of The Beyond. The transfer is top quality and theres plenty of extras. I also watched the I Drink Your Blood Show extra which was great.

I definitely recommend I Drink Your Blood to anyone who hasnt seen it.

I love IDYB, BZ. A genre classic and a must have for any horror fan. :coolblue:

The Reaper Man@Cult Labs 18th August 2009 10:26 PM

Zack and Miri make a porno

Loved this, very funny although got a bit too mushy at the end. Traci Lords looks like crap in this, she should return to porn though :eyebrows:

Hilarious stuff, and really crude.Nobody does a rom com like kevin smith,eh?:coolblue:

Saw a couple of flicks at the cinema yesterday,a perfect getaway...very slow and uninteresting, and its not to difficult to figure out who the killers are.
Also saw the remake of the taking of pelham 123,which was really enjoyable, even with travolta seriously overacting.Still have the original sitting in the to watch pile.

Also watched on dvd, against the dark, which wasnt half as bad as i was expecting.
Nice to see seagal branching into the horror genre,in what, imo was an above average vampire flick.:)

Pete 19th August 2009 08:26 AM

Waiting for Porno Holocaust to arrive.

mbv 19th August 2009 09:47 AM

bizarre_eye@Cult Labs 19th August 2009 06:56 PM

Had a Warren double bill tonight: Inseminoid and Terror. :coolblue:

bizarre_eye@Cult Labs 19th August 2009 07:59 PM

I have just finished watching the very gory and very enjoyable The Gateway Meat. Another one that is not for the faint-hearted!

The Reaper Man@Cult Labs 19th August 2009 08:00 PM

Good choice mate.
Terror-the British Suspiria?:eyebrows:

Sam 19th August 2009 08:01 PM

Went to see 'Orphan' at the cinema on Saturday, which was a lot better than I expected, genuinely creepy in places. It never fails to surprise me what they can get away with in a 15 certificate film these days!

BioZombie 19th August 2009 09:44 PM

I agree Sam Orphan was much better than I expected. Suprisigly creepy and the little girl was great. I went to a cinema where the audience lapped it up cheering and booing at appropriate moments which is something im not used to in a UK multiplex

The tongue through neck part was a highlight for me on this. Looking forward to the complete 'brightside' trilogy which should be out soon.

Ah, yes Warren's tribute to Argento! Certainly a lot of similar tricks and devices used, but at the same time a fresh and original film - you gotta love Warren.

bizarre_eye@Cult Labs 20th August 2009 06:48 AM

I rounded off my Warren-a-thon last night with Prey - one of my favourte Warren films. :coolblue:

Yeah I've been checking their site regularly and I'm really looking forward to this! :)

Refuse Liam 20th August 2009 08:25 AM

I went to see 'Orphan' last week, I went in with low expectations and found the movie very dumb, I think they revealed way too much at wrong parts of the movie. I wish they went all the way with the ending, and the 'twist'.

I'm going to watch 'Let The Right One In' tonight, I've not read a single thing about this movie or seen a trailer, but i hear it is being praised over many horror movie websites, so im looking forward to that.

gag 20th August 2009 09:36 AM

I went to see orphan last night i quite enjoyed it to be honest..
wasnt to keen at 1st but once the film picked up didnt think it was to bad,

mbv 20th August 2009 10:33 PM

Indiana jones and the kingdom of the crystal skull

Bought it cheap for the kids...oh my god what a load of bollox. You'd know George Lucas wrote it, utter shite.
Myself and my wife are currently building a time machine to get those 2 hours back

The Reaper Man@Cult Labs 20th August 2009 10:35 PM

Can't beat the old originals eh M?:)

mbv 21st August 2009 06:30 AM

You're damn right there.
I try and give certain movies the benefit of the doubt if I'd heard they were shite but this was just shocking.
CGI was so overdone it never looks real
The story is shit
the script is terrible

bizarre_eye@Cult Labs 21st August 2009 06:48 AM

I paid to go to the cinema to see Crystal Skull... :mad2: :pound:

iluvdvds@Cult Labs 21st August 2009 10:33 AM

:faint: Me too Bizzare Eye! It's terrible - I mean what the hell is up with that monkey bit! And aliens....ALIENS!

The Reaper Man@Cult Labs 21st August 2009 05:49 PM

I've just watched Simon and Garfunkel live in Central Park,1981.
What can I say? Absolutely astounding.Perfect harmony, note perfect.
An all time class act.:coolblue:

vincenzo 21st August 2009 09:35 PM

Absolutely agree. I'm a huge fan of their work. Sheer class.

The Reaper Man@Cult Labs 21st August 2009 09:44 PM

The DVD was included in a boxset of ALL their CD albums.Mrs Reaps gets some class cds from that Readers Digest!
Although I would rather find a greatest hits cd with all their hits on 1 cd for the car.:)
Which reminds me,BAD TIMING is still sitting in my to watch pile....
