When your wife says "Do you want to watch a movie tonight?"

Me: Sure, I just received a couple of Rollin movies a few weeks ago..

She says.. "er.. NO!"

Down Terrace (Ben Wheatley)

This was a rewatch as mate hadn't seen it. Happy families? When a father and son are released from prison, they set about finding who set them up. It's just the very British way this is portrayed sets it apart from any geezer flick that it got lumped in with ....

Alice, Sweet Alice 1976.

Adolescent girl Alice is accused of killing her sister during her first communion, as well as other attacks happen.

From start to finish this was a great chilling tense horror movie, the movie can be disturbing in bits especially with animal cruelty and the perverted landlord.

Brooke Sheilds in her first role, even if it's a small part sets the tone of hatred by her sister Alice, Paula Sheppard's role as Alice is very creepy as you don't know what goes through her head. It does look like a cheap film budget but does well with a dark atmospheric soundtrack and good cinematography and directed by Alfred Sole. Worth a watch.

April Fools Day (2008)

Seemingly identical in plot to the following years Sorority Row, i actually forgot what April Fools Day was supposed to be doing as for the most part of the film it followed the I Know What You Did Last Summer route of revenge killings for a past demeanor.

It's in the last half hour that it becomes clear that there aren't any actual killings - the politician simply throws his brief case in the air out of view when he's supposedly hit by a van - and the next couple of kills are preempted by plot points thrown at us with a very heavy hand.

I do admit i'd forgotten the actual surprise finale but the overwhelming feeling after seeing this 'beautiful people getting slaughtered film' was that i'd seen it all before...and not in Fred Walton's 1986 original.

The Killing Of John Lennon (Andrew Piddington)

Rambling 'biopic' . Obsessed with a JD Salinger novel, a disgruntled loner begins to fixate on the Beatle as a symbol of all that's wrong with the world. Hmmm. Was dying to see how they managed to make this last just under 2 hours ... by flashforwards and the like. Meh? Had to laugh at the "all Chapman's words are his own" spiel at the start ... as Paul Schrader might have something to say about that ... Next!!!

Les Yeux Sans Visage

Carry On Doctor it ain't. Restrained on the surface, this crazed tale of regret and mutilation looks both great and amazing btw. Tbh I came across my unopened Xmas pressie cough and in a fit of unbridled sanity, stuck it into the machine

Black demons(1991)

Three college students are in Brazil, including a brother and sister. and the brother is into voodoo and gets mixed up in a black magic ritual which ends up with him being possessed. and afterwards he brings back to life a bunch of dead black slaves who come back as zombies to get revenge.

this is a later film from cannibal king Umberto Lenzi. but i have to say that it is a rather weak effort compared to his classics like Ferox and Nightmare City.
it is very slow and the acting is absolutely terrible from this cast of unknowns. and although its still watchable, it just doesnt hold your attention that much and is soon forgotten.

One good thing is that the actual zombies or demons actually look quite creepy looking, even if their gore scenes are few and far between, despite a couple of graphic eye gouging. 63 out of 100.
