Flawless (2007)

Interesting and ingenious tale set in 1960 about a janitor at a London diamond corporation who one night pulls off the heist of a lifetime and steals every single diamond from the vault.

Michael Caine and Demi Moore are on top form in this subtle British thriller which ratchets up the tension as it goes along as the situation escalates and Caine's motives for the heist become clear.

Very enjoyable plus the fact Caine meets Moore in a cinema showing classic British crime film The League of Gentlemen (1960) should give a clue to the kind of film Flawless is.

That was actually far better than I thought it was going to be.
Captain Marvel/Shazam/Marvel Family/Shazam Family has had a lot of changes over the many years since they first appeared.
What impressed me was that it was pretty well comic book accurate to the Shazam story that was re-booted in Justice League some years ago and now continues in the new comic book series. In fact, a story thread in the movie is happening right now in the comic books.
Yeah, got a big kick out of this movie.

Batman: Mystery of the Batwoman (2003)

An animated film that is now 16 years old and it seemed quite primitive in it's animation techniques in comparison to newer DC dtv productions like Gotham By Gaslight.

That doesn't take away from what is a fun 70 minutes of down to earth superhero action as Batman and Robin (He's not in it much, don't worry) get down n' dirty trying to catch the mysterious Batwoman.

We also have the Penguin and an epic bout with Bane at the finale so it's not all catch the Batwoman.

Enjoyable and fun, but lacking that censor baiting edge the DC animated films have now.

Two girls on the run from a reform school are left to fend for themselves in the countryside after their get away driver is killed in a shootout. Venturing into the unknown they wind up in a mysterious chateau where they discover some decomposing bodies hanging from the ceiling. In a panic they flee the scene but just can't seem to actually find their way out of the grounds nd constantly find themselves back to where they started no matter what direction they run in. What is actually going on and will they ever escape.

Still a novice of Jean Rollin films this is just my third film I have seen and so far it's my favourite. There is very little dialogue throughout within the first 20 minutes there are only 5 words spoken. The lack of dialogue is a stroke of genius and really helps create a dream like feeling. Requiem For A Vampire is a beautiful film the lighting is spot on colours are vibrant and the camera work really captures the beauty of the location and shows the loneliness almost sadness of the chateau itself. Not really sure what else to say I just absolutely loved this film just like a beautiful surreal dream that I didn't want to wake up from.

Traumatised teen grows up to be Lady Gagaesque diva. Scott Walker did some of the score ... that Sia supplies the songs. Wasn't that gripped by this tbh. The younger actress is ok ... La Portman provides the adult content .. cough. Less ponderous than A Bigger Splash for all that ...

The Case Of The Bloody Iris. 1972.

A young model Jennifer and her friend Marilyn move to a new apartment where two murders have happened and they both are the next target, police seemed to be baffled as who is the murderer.

Aside from having one or two plot holes, bit of wooden performances and bit of bad dubbing this was a fairly decent movie to watch. The suspense is maintained throughout the film as who the killer is and finally revealed in a "no f@#king way" never thought of them being the killer.

Edwige Fenech plays the stunning model Jennifer and is always a good reason to watch this film and George Hilton as the lead actor as the architect of the building. The cinematography is done brilliantly by Stelvio Massi who also shot A Fistful Of Dollars. Worth a watch. 7 out of 10.

Watched this Monday and have to say it was a hell of a lot of fun, some funny bits but also some dark horror scenes that might not be ideal for younger children. Lots of little Easter eggs to the comics and other stuff , liked the Easter egg towards Big, which is really at it's heart what this film is superhero movie meets Big. Levi was good in the role and perfectly capture what it would be like for 14 year old to become a superhero in a adult body. Found the disabled kid to be a bit annoying self centred. After Aquaman and this DC are on a bit of a roll at the moment. 8/10

Legend of The 7 golden Vampires(1974)

count Dracula possesses a chinese chap in the 19th century and goes to terrorise a village with a bunch of resurrected kung fu golden vampires. and they kidnap young girls from the village and drain their blood.
And it is up to professor Van Helsing(Peter cushing) with the help of one of his chinese students and the chap's karate kicking brothers and sister to free the village of all the vampires.

one of Hammer's last films when they were in a steady decline. and an unusual mix of horror and martial arts in an attempt to try something different. and to be fair, it is a pretty entertaining film indeed, even if it is a bit silly. and has loads of great martial arts action and a creepy horror vibe. with a nice amount of blood and nudity as well, and even some creepy looking zombies.

sorely missed though is Christopher lee as Dracula. and the chap playing the part is rather average to be honest and just doesnt cut it at all.
But peter Cushing is still as awesome as ever though. and always makes ridiculous stories so credible. and Julie Ege adds the glamour in the film as a fiesty lady up for a bit of adventure.
well worth a watch. 77 out of 100.
