Lurking Fear. 1994.

Small town Leffert's Corners has been plagued by creatures, a small group of people left plan to kill them and another team searching for money that was buried.

Haven't not read the short story i wasn't sure what to expect with this film, this isn't any award winning feature, the acting is mediocre, the plot to it is somewhat very thin to being laughable as well as the creatures. Jeffrey Combs stars as the chain smoking alcoholic doctor trying to help a pregnant woman kill the creatures with help from female mercenary Ashley Laurence. Blake Adams is the ex convict looking for his father's money trail and providing some narration and Jon Finch is the bad guy looking for the money. Don't go into this one with high hopes but maybe second viewing will help.

Enjoy the story MrB, it's ... somewhat different ahem.

Bait (2019, Mark Jenkin)

Cornish set drama? Dramedy?? Hmmm.
No, really.
Martin hankers for the ocean .... but hasn't the vessel. No, really.
Filmed in a rather flat yet baroque style, reminding me of Pasolini at points.

No, really , honest it's quite funny. Interlopers have come to the village with their "advantages" all on show, so yes, tis a clash of cultures. Multiculturalism in microcosm even
Plus some shots just remind me of my town tbh.

A classic Vincent Price is on top form. When a number of doctors have been killed in bizarre ways it soon becomes apparent it's the work of Doctor Phibes who is killing those he blames for death of his wife, by using the ten plagues of Egypt as inspiration . Some stylish kills and a wicked dark sense of humour. 9/10

Now watching

It certainly is different Demoncrat, defiantly one for second watch.

Hollow Man. 2000.

At a government research facility, a team leader volunteers himself as a test subject in the next phase of the research for invisibility trial, when things go wrong he turns on his team.

Decent stylish film that has a take on the Invisible man story, Kevin Bacon leads his team to discovering invisibility and using animals then himself. Josh Brolin and Elisabeth Shue star along as the researchers. Paul Verhoeven directs this Sci-Fi thriller, the directing maybe over the top at times but does keep the pace going and it does have good decent special effects.

Let The Corpses Tan (Helene Cattet & Bruno Forzani)

Still having not yet seen their second effort, I plunged straight into this humdinger. Yet again tis a miasma of Italian genre tropes, and some Chilean ... but this time there's a plot!!!
Slightly reminiscent of both Free Fire & Treasure Of The Sierra Madre, this brisk little tale manages to entertain and bewilder all at the same time.
Some will hate it, no doubt, but I look forward to watching this again.
Recommended.
Or

Hollow Man II. 2006

A Seattle detective and a biologist go on the run from a assassin who has gone rogue.

This was a bit of a let down from the first movie, yeah it does show a bit of the background to the character and his test on the invisibility and seeking revenge and then the chase is on. Christian Slater stars as the assassin, there are some good scenes in it with the deaths but seems to drag on a lot to the point of boredom setting in.

Emanuelle and the last cannibals. 1977.

After being undercover in a asylum, reporter Emanuelle believes a patient was raised by a cannibal tribe, teamed with a professor they travel to South America.

From director Joe D'Amato comes this soft porn Italian horror, this is not the best horror, the acting isn't great which may be due to the bad dubbing, the plot to the film may seem daft but was decent to enjoy and plenty of female nudity which does slide away from the horror side except and the killings and the daft screams.

Frankenstein Meets The Wolf Man. 1943.

Larry Talbot finds himself in a asylum recovering from a operation, he seeks to end his curse and only Dr. Frankenstein has the cure who is now dead. When he finds the monster buried in ice, he chips away the creature is awake, when Larry transforms into the wolf the two will battle.

One of Lon Chaney Jr best performance as Larry Talbot who seems to carry the movie on him that never gets bored to watch. Bela Lugosi takes on the role as the monster, which seems a bit wooden as the studio interfered and edited a lot out of his character. It does have its dark gothic atmosphere and still seems to captivate an audience's attention with it's suspense.

House of Frankenstein. 1944.

A evil scientist and his hunchback assistant escape from prison and encounter Frankenstein's monster, Wolf Man and a baron who is Dracula.

Sometimes combining monsters into a movie doesn't work well but strangely this does try to be good, Lon Chaney jr returns as Larry, set 20 years after the previous film Larry and the monster are incased in a iced tomb. Boris Karloff stars not as the monster but the mad scientist in a very dark portrayal with his assistant Daniel played well by J. Carrol Naish and John Carradine in his first role as Dracula. This may not be the best film in the universal world of movies but still enjoyable.
