#Screamers (2017, Dean Matthew Ronalds) Come to Giglar! We've got the cooooolest algorhythm on the net, catered to you and you alone. Now, if they had done something with this set up .... oh well. Instead they get sent a clip which is a surefire sizzler in terms of traffic, seeing the unanimous reaction they get in the office. When a second clip of similar calibre arrives, the chase is on to exclusivise (???) their content. I've just looked back on what I've just written, and I wants to pluck my eyeballs out The head of the company is a Zuckerbergy sort, so he's gung ho about this "prize". They eventually find a contact, and ...well ...tunnel vision isn't 20/20 is it? Being blunt, I only kept this on as the brunette was pretty Yet again, just under 75 minutes ....

The Witch In The Window. 2018. Simon buys a house in Vermont, he takes his son with him and both try to fix it up. Simon is told of the previous owner Lydia and how the town thought she was a witch. As Simon and Finn work on the house Lydia's presence begins to get stronger. This was something totally different than I expected to be, even though I was going into this on a blind view and never heard of It, this had the premise of being another haunted house, yet parts of it seem to be more drama. There is suspense built up and there is a good camera trick of using optical illusions with a blink and miss it. Alex Draper and Charlie Tracker play the father and son duo pretty decently as the relationship seemed strained and brought together. This does have one or two jump moments, this one does need a open mind. thewitchinthewindow.jpg

Certainly one of the better modern efforts imho. 21 Days (2014, Kathleen Behun) 3 clods ignore several red flags whilst setting up to debunk an "urban myth" The good old Native American burial ground as back story .... aww does your heart proud ... the old ones are the best ETC So guess how long they're staying ... go on guess Decent enough build up with the gradual eerieness, though the ending is a tad fraught visually (not as much as The Taking Of Deborah Logan, which still takes the prize in the WTF IS GOING ON stakes ahem). I'd write more but I'm just going to investigate these weird noises outside ....

I sat through it unimpressed myself D. Onwards!! The Woods (2013, Mark Bacci) A couple decide to make with the fake/hoax Bigfoot thing. After overdoing it on their last night in civillisation, a companion chooses to stay behind to clear her head. So off they traipse ... Decent enough survival horror imho. After doing a few set ups, the dawning realisation that something is actually out there is reasonably done ...

Sweet, Sweet Lonely Girl. 2016. Adele is sent away by her mother to be a carer for her Aunt Dora who is a shut in, soon Adele makes friends with a girl called Beth and slowly her behavior changes. This was a unexpected turn from a drama/thriller to a somewhat gothic ghost story, It is something of a slow burner but rode it out and up to the last fifteen minutes it became a bit of a cluster f@ck ending that came with a twist. The reason I said it was gothic type is the house is mentioned from being the Victorian era and still has the old decor from the 70s and seems to have rooms that may hold the secrets of someone's past. The actors Quinn Shepherd and Erin Wilhelmi do try to make it entertaining but the film is on 76 minutes long and felt they makers could have crammed in a bit more. This movie can have a love/hate moment with other viewers. images.jpg
