I meant if it was made today, with the character's outdated opinions being part of the 'fish out of water' humour.

It would be the same as the Life on Mars and Ashes to Ashes TV series.

Teaching unions were outraged by the language used in Life of Mars if i recall. Due to kids copying their colourful language. That was back then. Can you imagine the furore if kids were saying stuff like "Shall we shag now or shall we shag later" to fellow students?

Despicable Me. 2010.

Gru a super villian decides to plan the biggest heist to steal the moon, he has to contend with another villain Vector, Gru enlists the help of three young orphans who he starts to care for.

Who ever said this film was for kids is a idiot, this is for all ages with the giggles from Gru and his minions. The plot is simple and straightforward but every five minutes there is about a burst of laughter that comes with this film even at the end credits I had tears of laughter streaming down my face. Steve Carrell does a good villain voice of Gru who gets mimic by the young girls perfectly.

Watched the next episode of last drive in which was Society, which is a better film than Castle Freak and has some of grossest effects ever the segments weren't as good as castle freak which might of been down too not having a guest which was the lovely barbara crampton.

Now watching the next episode which is deathgasm. Was going to watch episode after which was The Changeling but thats nearly 3 hours! Will save that for tomorrow.

So might watch this, anyone seen it?

The Three Musketeers (2011)

Paul WS Anderson's version of the classic Dumas tale won't please everyone, however i find it very enjoyable.

Anderson gives the film an almost steam punk vibe as he manages to crash not one but two airships into Notre Dame Cathedral.

A Quiet Place Part II

Sequel to the surprise hit which sees Emily Blunt trying to lead her family to safety. I'm sure that this film is on many people's radar so I'm not going to divulge any details but it's a worthy sequel to the original.

Over The Edge

Bored teens in a planned community start to rebel when Parents and Police keep them under close scrutiny. I'm sure that this was an impactful film back in it's day but to be honest, I was thinking that the teens weren't as destructive as it was made out to be. It's not a completely bad film but it's not going to be one that I'll be constantly watching.

Cruella

Emma Stone stars in this film charting the story of how Cruella came to be. It's an interesting watch but overlong also I believe we are meant to forget the Glenn Close 101 Dalmatian films as Horace and Jasper aren't seen to be bumbling Henchmen.

One Cut Of The Dead In Hollywood

This is the 56 minute extra feature on the Blu-Ray of the sublime original movie. Again I'm not going to go into any details but it's just as good as the main film with the original cast, it's very funny.

It's great to see a film so clever with an intelligent and funny script done on a very low budget do spectacularly. I do fear for the American remake (Should there be one)

SPIDER-MAN 2 (2004)

Super sequel. This is pure comic book action.
The villain of the piece, Doctor Octopus looks like his comic book counterpart and his CGI effects still look great.
This is what it's all about. Excellent entertainment.

AMERICAN GRAFFITI (1973)

George Lucas captures his youth with stories of a group of friends set over one night in the early 1960's.
Comedy, hot rods, girls and a great soundtrack.
Early days for the cast and film makers, many who went on to and who were involved in making big blockbuster movies in the coming years.

Red Woods (2021, Nicholas Danko)

FF.
When his brother goes missing whilst doing the urban exploration bit (in the country? Surely that would make it RURAL exploration then?? ) a chap teams up with some other sorts for that safety in numbers thing. Something slightly different this time as the focus wasn't really on jump scares. Would I recommend it though? Hmmmm.

The Shepherd (2008)

MrBarlow mentioned this to me last week so i thought i'd dig out the Fight Factory dvd and watch it.

A very enjoyable JCVD actioner as he plays a cop newly assigned to a New Mexico border town where he soon finds trouble in the shape of ex-Navy Seals smuggling drugs across the border from Mexico.

A fast paced story with good action sequences including a fun fight to the death with Scott Adkins and a cast of former British soap actors. Filmed in Bulgaria although it looks the part, The Shepherd isn't one to tax the brain but as far as an easy to watch movie with ass kicking and a pet rabbit goes you can't go wrong.
