Eyes In The Night. 1942.

A blind detective and his seeing eye dog investigate a death and motive and uncover a plot of selling military secrets.

This was a nicely shot suspenseful mystery film with Edward Arnold as the blind detective aided by his guide dog Friday, seeing Mantan Moreland in this as the butler/servant I thought this would be more comedy, the comical bits do happen but not as much as it's more serious crime thriller. Ann Harding plays the young girl who seeks 'Mac's' help and is does try her best not to over act anyone. The film doesn't waste much time getting in to the plot at a decent pace but felt the last 10-15 minutes was very rushed, good and entertaining.

Good Cop, Bad Cop

Very decent Action B-Movie which sees former Cop turned Bounty Hunter, David Keith who is hired by a Mayor played by Stacey Keach to keep an eye on the suspect accused of murdering his Daughter. Obviously it's a trap therefore they go on the run and along the way, they come across a Hooker played by Pamela Anderson (It's a 1993 Film therefore, I believe it's before Baywatch).

Whilst it's a bit silly in places and there is a repetitive 5 seconds of Music, I enjoyed it and it's definitely a lot better than the bigger budget Movies out there and I can certainly see the cover being attractive to Video Store customers back in the day.

The Wild Life (1984, Cameron Crowe)

What a cast. Hi jinks with those young folks once again. Jenny Wright always looked so pained. Stolz the youngest I've seen him yet . Dick Rude appears as a bully type so this led me to revisiting ....

Repo Man

........ making this a Universal double ahem. Still a lot of fun, even if it disintegrates at the end there
For those who haven't ... a young punker falls in with a jaded bunch of sorts in order to escape his humdrum life. This leads to all sorts of fun with the odd musician turning up, a business model which led the director Straight To Hell, one of the great misfires of all time. REWATCH

Avenging Angel (1985)

Sequel to the 1984 hit? Angel, in which former prostitute, now law student, Angel goes back to the Hollywood streets to get revenge for a friends murder.

Dropping the griminess of the first film, Avenging Angel is a camper and much more fun affair with shoot out's galore with the fun encapsulated in a riotous sequence as aging cowboy Rory Calhoun is bust out of a sanitarium.

The curvy Betsy Russell replaces the original Angel Donna Wilkes for this film and her tougher yet sexy look make this more of an action film than the hard edged thriller that the first film was. Whilst much stylistically has changed what remains is the neon brightness of Hollywood Boulevard which is captured rather well by some stylish camera work.

Although very dated in style and fashion, Avenging Angel remains a more than satisfying ride because where both Angel, which i watched on Monday, and this succeed is in their terrific characterizations of the supposed low life of Hollywood - the (And i quote) hookers, dykes, drugstore cowboys, transvestites and street performers - the ones we get to know are wonderfully written people, a loving street family, whom i really cared about and that's quite a big deal in movies that were most likely back in the day seen as throwaway C-movies.

Night Of Terror. 1933.

The heirs to a family fortune gather at a house for a seance only for them to be killed one by one.

Early start to the 'Old Dark House' creepy movies with a dark atmosphere...very dark, Bela Lugosi doning a turban which he would do again in 1940 You'll Find Out film. This has some good acting, a chauffeur who we know is always the one to get scared of his own shadow and filled with some comedy elements. It does have the stylish shadows and creepy parts of the house. Not be the best for story wise but entertaining.

I've taken a couple of days off work for a long weekend, and decided to watch some cinema movies, aside from Dune which I bloody loved, also best soundtrack of 2021 hands down... I watched Bond and I really wished I hadn't. It's way too long (cold opening itself is about 25 mins), it's too emotional, it has too many quips and silly moment, and the director certainly enjoys Daniel Craig's bulge in close up as we get "treated" to it more than one time... Also the 'Arch Villain' is far from "arch" and not really scary enough, but the plan itself is quite interesting, although on reflection seems to be quite a neat and tidy way to end the story arc. Oh, and naughty M says the f-word Dame Judy would never... (she didn't, did she? lol...)

It has a few decent bits in it but it's all been downhill since the excellent Casino Royale hasn't it? I'm glad it's the end of the Craig era. I might watch Moonraker as a palette cleanser haha...

Dame Judi was the only person to say the f-word in Bond history. It happened in Skyfall.

Totally agree that it's been downhill all the way since Casino Royale.

Then we've had twice because Ralph says it as well, it sounds so out of place in this franchise.

I wonder who's going to be next driving the Aston Martin, will they be better or will they be hampered by bad scripting too?

Doesn't he swear in Skyfall and Spectre?

I read an article saying the odds were shortening on Tom Hopper (Sir Percival in Merlin, Billy Bones in Black Sails, Dickon Tarly in Game of Thrones, and Luther Hargreeves in The Umbrella Academy) being announced as the next James Bond. With his age and appearance, he would look look 'right', doesn't come with much baggage, and is a good actor, so I wouldn't be upset if he was cast.
