WTF did I just watch it's like some screwed up mixture of Wallace and gromit , David lynch , Tim Burton and a little 2001 throwing in for good measure, didn't have a clue what the hell was going on but couldn't take my eyes of the screen. Watch out for Alex Cox (moviedrome) who seriously needs to find some nail clippers!

Lady Terminator. 1989.

Way before Kristanna Loken took on the role of the female terminator, Barbara Ann Constable played a indestructible Indonasian terminator that wasn't a cyborg but a woman possessed.

A queen who can't be satisfied with men when she mates, her newest husband knows what happens casts her spirit to the sea, years later a female anthropologist becomes possessed and goes on a killing spree.

We know from the title what we are in for and so did the main lead but they went with it, how she kills her prey must have been the inspiration for the film Teeth. The dubbing is all over the place which makes the acting more comical and how nobody seems to run out of ammo is a wonder, yet I enjoyed the little rip-off.

Hollywood Boulevard (1976, Alan Arkush/Joe Dante)

A heartwarming tale of ambition. An innocent tries to make her way in LA. Falling in with some bottom feeders (including Dick Miller and Paul Bartel!), she begins to find her feet in this milleu. This was fun now. Setting up a comedic base before spiralling into a darker realm towards the end. One I will probably revisit ...

The Hunted. 1995.

Business man Paul Racine in Japan witnesses a woman he has just meet being killed by a ninja and becomes a target.

Christopher Lambert plays the American businessman who witnesses Joan Chen being slain and is given help by Yoshio Harada and Yoko Shimada to stay alive against master John Lone. Saw this back in 1998 when the BBC aired it late on a Friday night and couldn't remember much about it except the Bullet Train sequence where nobody was safe and the Samurai Fight at the end that was well choreographed. The film may not be spectacular but entertaining.

The Munsters (2022)

A Gothic comedy dripping with day-glow colours in which Sheri Moon and Sylvester McCoy excel.

I loved it.

Massacre Time. 1966. Lucio Fulci.

The first film from the recently purchased Vengeance Trails set from Arrow.
I like westerns. I like darker westerns. In fact my favourite westerns almost always sail close to the horror genre in tone.
The film opens with Junior, the cruel and clearly psychotic son of a local landowner along with his mates, leering sadistically while a pack of angry dogs and a random man in a wooden cage...well it needs to he seen. As nasty and disturbing opening scene as I've ever seen, certainly for a 60s western, and one that immediately sets the tone and establishes this as a Fulci film before we are treated to the catchy theme tune which apparently features lyrics ritten by the Maestro himself.
Next we meet Franco Nero's Tom. A gold prospector summoned back to his home town by a family friend.
Tom's family farm has been overrun and the town itself taken over by Mr.Scott, the aforementioned Juniors Pa.
Tom catches up with his estranged brother Jeff, a drunk who seems to have given up on life. However as the film develops via a number of cracking set pieces the two agree to work together sort of. Ultimately they head off into a showdown John Woo would have been proud of, storming Scott's villa in a blaze of ballistic ballet.
I sat transfixed for the brilliant last 25 minutes thinking this really does seem so ahead of its time and the whole dynamic between Franco Nero and George Hilton (playing the brother Jeff) just screams of the heroic bloodshed made famous by Woo years later. The film even ends on a scene of a white dove flying away from the battle. I'd never even heard of this before, the only Fulci western I was aware of was Four of the Apocalypse, I've not seen it and don't know how it compares but Massacre Time gets my highest recommendation and I'd have been happy to have paid the £20 this boxset was on the shelf for, just to have this film.
Hey Gentlemen!!!

Thanks Dem. I'm not fond of writing them. I feel woefully inadequate next to some of the expertise around here.
