I just couldn't get on with 3. I liked 2 very much up until the actual ending. I felt it ruined the credibility quite a bit.

Did you ever see the 4th one (aka The Beginning) which was a made for TV prequel? Henry Thomas played young Norman and Olivia Hussey was his mom. Surprisingly enjoyable in parts and the performances were pretty good. Even John Landis turned up as the radio station owner.

Like Omen 4 I can't say I thought much of the 4th Psycho film. There was also Bates Motel but I can't remember it very well, but it was on TV once some years ago.

YIPPPPPEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!

I watched "Zombi Holocaust" last night. Very bloody and gory cannibal/zombie film. I think it may be gorier than Fulci's ZFE. And everyone loves gore!!

Philleh 18th July 2008 10:17 AM

Plus it mixes genre's by having Cannibals AND Zombies! Hurrah! :)

What more could you ask for? ;)

Mojo 18th July 2008 11:15 AM

Watched a Dutch import of Hammer's The Reptile.

I haven't seen the ABUS release, but this wipes the floor with the recent UK disc. Pq is excellent.

Great film too, as it happens :)

Other than the John Barry theme The Adventurer didn't do much for me. I preferred The Baron.

Both the Strange Report & The Baron are out here on dvd.I'll get these & Man In A Suitcase eventually.

I have the dutch release which also has some decent extras (the UK one is a vanilla release)

Man In A Suitcase is the best of the 3 by far. Equally essential is Department S which I found far superior to Wyngarde's Jason King spin off.

mark meakin 18th July 2008 12:42 PM

I find Jason King embarassing but I have liked Department S episodes I've seen.

vincenzo 18th July 2008 12:48 PM

Yes Jason King has dated badly and is almost a spoof of itself. Department S is great stuff. The Pied Piper Of Hambledown episode is just terrific.

I've got some off-air (and negligible quality) episodes of a few other 60's series scattered around. Ghost Squad, The Troubleshooters and Riviera Police spring to mind. Been after Take Three Girls for ages now but most of it has probably been wiped.

mark meakin 18th July 2008 01:23 PM

Ghost Squad series 1-3 came out tis year in the UK.Never seen any episodes.

vincenzo 18th July 2008 04:40 PM

It's extremely dated now which is why I didn't go for better quality releases. Gideon's Way has dated too but isn't too bad. Paul Temple (with Francis Matthews) is in my collection somewhere and looks quaint but surprisingly enjoyable.

TALL DUDE 18th July 2008 05:30 PM

Recently bought the code red release of devil times five, after a bit of badgering from cloud.
Also bought, the children,25th anniversary edition. Its from troma,so i aint expecting a pristine master from the vaults.:p

I just watched "Chopping Mall" and it is sooooooooooooo 80's! The bad hair! The soundtrack! The special effects! Imagine 'Robocop' meets 'Dawn Of The Dead' meets 'Attack Of The Killer Tomatoes' and I'd say ur pretty close to this film. The 3 robots (AKA the 'killbots' lol!) are not menacing in the slightest, IMO, they look exactly like that robot from 'Short Circuit' (Johny something). Brilliant!

4/5 - I couldn't stop laughing at it.

In the killbots words, "Thank you and enjoy your day!"

I'd completely forgotten this film. I only saw it once but really liked it. It's totally daft but rather enjoyable.

horrorman 19th July 2008 05:33 PM

Creep
halloween
When a stranger calls
Entrails of a beautiful woman
Dellamorte Dellamore
Rage

would recommend them all really good films.

mark meakin 20th July 2008 01:49 PM

Fans of the X-Files could do worse than check out the dvd boxed sets of seasons 1 & 2 of Supernatural.Graphically violent at times (lots of throat-slittings) though the lack of swearing bar "frigging" & "pissed" betrays its TV origins (still surprisingly brutal though).Nicely atmospheric & well acted too.Season 3 hits dvd here in August.(A shorter season I assume due to the writers strike in the US)

Watched BLOODBATH AT THE HOUSE OF DEATH in glorious digital perfection an all round excellent brit-package.....;)

I'll pick this up soon with the second Grindhouse Trailers release.I always thought the film was underrated.

Philleh 22nd July 2008 10:46 AM

I watched Papaya Love Goddess of the Cannibals last night - surprisingly good movie!! Not much of the title holds true though, but it's a damn entertaining Joe D'Amato sleaze-opus!

I also watched his Sesso Nero... which is straight hardcore, but again - very entertaining!

iluvdvds@Cult Labs 22nd July 2008 11:45 AM

Well, the day before yesterday I had a 'Evil Dead' marathon!!!! I watched all 3 'Evil Dead' films back to back in one night! BRILLIANT!!!!!!!! I luv 'Evil Dead' and the musical version of it (I started a thread about it but no replies yet! Maybe musicals aren't ur guys 'thing' lol!)

Then last night I watched 'A Shot In The Dark" - brilliant too! 4/5

Mojo 22nd July 2008 08:25 PM

Watched the Spanish release of Corruption last night and loved it to bits! Peter Cushing is fantastic in this - in fact, for me this is up with Twins Of Evil and Tales From The Crypt as his best ever performance.

Unfortunately, this isn't the 'Continental' version, but the picture quality is terrific and it's a bloody good film! Highly recommended.

vincenzo 22nd July 2008 09:29 PM

Yes Corruption is a great bit of nastiness. Weird to see Cushing running amok in swinging London with the likes of Sue Lloyd and a bowl-haired Billy Murray. http://www.shameless-films.com/forum...es/biggrin.gif

Another good Cushing performance is in the early non-horror film Cone Of Silence as a shitty & superior airline pilot.

The Reaper Man@Cult Labs 22nd July 2008 11:45 PM

Just watched WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO SOLANGE? another giallo masterpiece! This would make an excellent Shameless release!
Would like to see the third part of his 'schoolgirls in peril' trilogy also.....:woot:

vipco 23rd July 2008 12:31 AM

HMV Belfast have Killers Moon in stock so i'll be getting that tomorrow or Thursday, plus I want to try pick up a few BluRays in the GameStop 2 for 1 offer.

The Witch who Came from the Sea

Too sluggishly paced to generate any real tension. Under produced as well.

There's very little violence in the film and whatever there is looks unconvincing.

The film appears to have just scraped through the BBFC uncut because the scenes between the father and daughter are very disturbing.

Mardi Gras Massacre

Dull, Dull, Dull. Also extremely amateurish.
The murder scenes are just plain ridiculous.

Horrible, horrible, horrible imagery! :ack:

vincenzo 23rd July 2008 10:23 AM

I enjoyed The Witch Who Came From The Sea. For me it's one of the most professionally made and superbly acted of all the Video Nasties.

Mardi Gras Massacre is definitely the other end of the spectrum. Absolute drivel from beginning to end. Blood Feast was no masterpiece (an understatement) but it was a professional blockbuster compared to this.

iluvdvds@Cult Labs 23rd July 2008 11:50 AM

"Straightheads" - quite a good modern rape/revenge british film - not as explicit as I had heard it was (the quotes on the covers saying it is 'pornographic' and 'more x-rated than the x-files' is a load of crap! LOL) 3/5

I think someone here said they had seen it too - I remember the comment about the gun and bum!

Mardi Gras-So dull Angel,I got rid of-was it a precert you watched?

Witch-tried to watch it a few times-just CAN'T get into it!

Glad you liked Solange reaper. It's one of my favourite Gialli, along with Daughters.

Rings Of Fear is available as part of one of those DVD Drive-In boxsets ( as Trauma ). It appears uncut, but is a horrible VHS pan and scan dupe. It's probabaly the least of the trilogy, but a pristine copy would make a very welcome addition to the Shameless catalogue :).

The Reaper Man@Cult Labs 23rd July 2008 07:38 PM

It sure would mate Dallamano's films are absolute class!
If only ALL gialli were as good as this!

Yes, Reaps.

Hard to believe it was ever a nasty considering how ridiculous it all was and the much stronger stuff that passed unnoticed at the time.
