Right At Your Door. 2006. After dirty bombs are detonated around the L.A. area, Brad shields himself in his house along with his wife but how safe is their house. The film focuses on a somewhat battle of survival and using your own initiative to try and keep safe and alive within your own home. Rory Cochrane and Mary McCormack play the couple that are trapped in their own home and seperated by plastic sheilding while reports are still on going about the terrorist acts. This is not a perfecting film, half way through it does fizzle out with regrets of the characters which I'm sure we will be the same at that situation but it's not really played out well and what tension was built up is lost and then It does pick up at the last 5 minutes of the film. 2169219.jpg

Creed III Adonis Creed has retired and is a Manager however a person from the past comes back and asks him for a shot at The Title. Enjoyable enough, if you liked the previous Creed Films, then you'd probably enjoy this. They've done a good job of moving past The Rocky Films and with the current state of Boxing at the moment, someone getting a Title Shot on his 1st Fight isn't as unrealistic as you would think. They did try something new with the Final Fight at the end but it's not ridiculous and they actually recreated a Deleted Scene from Creed II. Color Purple 1985 Steven Speilberg Film which chronicles the stories of several women in 1900's America. Whoopi Goldberg is really good in her debut performance. Danny Glover plays an abusive Husband and as always, plays his role well. Oprah Winfrey is also good and brings the comic relief as a woman who doesn't take any nonsense. It's not bad but I believe it's one of those Films that is really good back in it's day but there have been better Films that are similar released since. Tooth Fairy Dwayne Johnson is in his Family Film Phase and he is a Ice Hockey Tough Guy who has to become a Tooth Fairy. It doesn't rewrite the book on these type of Films and has all the usual clichés but I enjoyed it. Final Destination A High School Student has a premonition about the Plane he's on crashing. So after he and others get of the plane and the premonition comes true. Death comes for the survivors. Trying to find the next Horror Franchise, it's not a bad effort but more creative set pieces and more gorier deaths occur in it's Sequels (I believe) Zombie Creeping Flesh Generic storyline, a Research Facility creates a Virus and it gets unleashed In Papea New Guinea and turns the locals into Zombies. Some of the finest Offal F/X you'll see (LOL) but the look on the Child was pretty good. It's not bad for a watch every once in a while but it's definitely not a regular viewed Film. This is the 88 Films Blu-Ray release (Not the recent 4K version) and it has one of my biggest pet peeves: It's got Zombie Creeping Flesh as it's title on the cover and disk but it has the Hell Of The Living Dead title during the Film. I know it's got alternate titles but someone who is unfamiliar would be thinking they've somehow got the wrong film. Just call it Hell Of The Living Dead all round. I get if it's got a title in a foreign language but you can easily use a subtitle. |

Ronin. 1998. A former U.S. intelligence agent gathers a team to steal a case that other agencies are interested in. Robert De Niro is the ex-CIA agent and strategy man, Jean Reno, the French mercenary, Stellan Skarsgard is the computer professional, Sean Bean is the field man and Skipp Sudduth seems to be the specialist in driving cars. Natascha McElhone is the icy cold Irishwoman who explains the mission and seems to think she is in charge of the men. As the film goes on it becomes tense and more exciting when there is a double cross going on, Robert and Jean show great acting opposite each other as to try and figure out about the secret case while sitting in a cafe and try to come up with a solution. Think what is more capturing and great direction by John Frankenheimer captures good shots around Paris and the great car chases that end as you would expect, not good for the bad guys. A brilliant late 90s action thriller. large_9SFjoCXctd9LGNcgvn6O1YEEhsg.jpg

Waxwork (1988) A fun take on the old Mystery of the Wax Museum story, Anthony Hickox's film places the exhibits of David Warner's otherworldly waxwork museum in alternate dimensions that only become apparent when an unwitting victim steps over the boundary cord and onto an exhibit. To you and me this wouldn't be a problem, but to a group of horror movie college kids this makes for a whole heap of trouble as one by one the idiots, er, students, headed by Gremlins fave Zach Galligan, find themselves in fights of survival against a werewolf, vampires, zombies and others. Waxwork is an enjoyably gloopy way to showcase students getting torn apart by legendary horror icons. It's fast paced, occasionally delightfully gory and the use of David Warner and Patrick Macnee in the cast inspired, especially Macnee who homages perhaps his most famous non-tv role. So 80's it hurts, Waxwork is one of those horror films along with the likes of Fright Night and Return of the Living Dead that sum up the decade for the discerning horror fan. |
