I watched the Synapse DVD of Frank Henenlotter's Brain Damage. An enjoyably bizarre and funny flick with one particularly gruesome moment where the main character hallucinates about pulling a long strand of brain matter out through his ear!

Default What films have you seen recently?

Italy's first horror film
I VAMPIRI - Bava took over when Freda left and its a very good 50's horror, though nothing to do with vampires!

THE SQUEEZE - when is this great Brit thriller going to have the sp. ed. treatment it deserves?

Watched The Italian Connection last night. A terrific 1972 Italian crime thriller from director Fernando Di Leo.

The second in a trilogy, it follows the trail of two American hitmen played brilliantly by Henry Silva and Woody Strode as they set out to kill small time pimp Luca Canali (Mario Adorf) who supposedly double crossed the American based Mafia. luca's problem is nobody told him what he was in trouble for.

The film is a witty, well filmed piece and the plot roars along at a fair gallop.

Part of the 4 disc Fernando Di Leo crime collection from Raro US, i would heartily reccomend this set to anyone with a passing interest in crime or Italian cinema.

I think BRAIN DAMAGE is excellent and better than BASKET CASE,
wasn't a fan of FRANKENHOOKER

The "chase" scene in this is gold!

Agreed. It's been several years since I saw Brain Damage and, like Society and Frankenhooker, it's so memorable I can picture bits of it now.

It has a much quicker pace and feel to it than the first film i saw - Calibre 9.
That was quite languid and sedate in comparison.
