I just watched René Cardona Jr's Beaks/Birds Of Prey which is one of those films with is both inept and incapable of holding your attention, yet you feel oddly affectionate towards it.

It's complete rubbish in every way, pigeons are inherently not scary and the treatment of the birds during the film-making is often quite shocking, and yet, it's utter ridiculousness is adorable.

Total crap. But I've seen worse!
I love birds of prey! Incidentally my mate just gave me john saxons zombie death house for crimbo, xmas day will be fun

An incredibly overrated movie, if you ask me. Apart from two memorable death scenes (including antlers and a sleigh), there's nothing that would make me rewatch this movie!

Greetings!

Watched 7 Dollars on the Red the other night. Great, tragic story behind that one. Gotta love Anthony Steffen, too.
bdc and Pete like this.

Last night I watch Animal Soup (Animal Soup (Video 2009) - IMDb). I found it really enjoyable, a fun gross-out film with lots of torture, insanity and pooooo (lol) and one of the girls who stars in it is a total cutie

Also watched Island Of The Living Dead, which was kind of crap but at least in an entertainingly bad way. Was a case of laughing at the bad acting and bad dubbing.

I also stuck Silent Night, Deadly Night in my player last night, and gave it a watch. I usually end up watching Gremlins, A Nightmare Before Christmas, or Black Christmas, every Christmas Eve and I fancied a change. The film is still as enjoyable as I remember. Love Will Hare's performance at the beginning, just the right amount of over-the-top menacing crazy. Some of the cinematography is surprisingly good too, the use of shadows in the framing in particular. Some dire acting, and the way the camera first shows Billy when he's 18, making him look more like someone from a dodgy 80's gay porno do not spoil, but add to the enjoyment.

Thanks to Reaps ,I watched Don't Open Till Christmas (1984) (for the first time) on Christmas Eve.
I'm still recovering but will post my thoughts on this one soon.

Btw I watched the XT dvd and was enjoying the very interesting "making of" doc when it suddenly stopped playing and I was returned to the dvd menu...

I jest of course, the movie is pretty damnned cheesy to say the least, I like it but it does find itself edging into my guilty pleasures list. Parts 2 and 3 are worse while 4 and 5 are totally unrelated and have nothing to do with xmas at all!

Watched Valerii's Price of Power last night and was blown away. Easily one of the best Spaghetti's I've ever seen!
