Hi all

Watched carpenters village of the damned with the late
Christopher reeve the other night. Enjoyed it more this time
round. Loved the opening few minutes where all the
townsfolk all suddenly collapse at the big get together.
Still can't take the blond red eyed kids seriously but its a better
movie then I had remembered.

Watched Some Kind Of Monster. Not as eye gougingly awkward to watch as Let It Be, but then what is?
Or the emotional rollercoaster that the Anvil doc was.....
It hasn't improved my opinion of the 'Lica
The phrase PETULANT BRATS comes to mind....

If you didn't know Metallica was a real band, you'd probably be forgiven for thinking Some Kind of Monster was like a This Is Spinal Tap-type spoof documentary about a band imploding!

Four Flies on Grey Velvet - first viewing of the Shameless blu-ray. A great thriller from Argento, a little unevenly paced at times with characters that don't seem to stick around enough for you to care about them. Odd moments of comedy too ("Hallelujah!!") but overall an enjoyable thriller which ranks for me alongside Cat O' Nine Tails in terms of quality. His first use of fantasy elements in a giallo too, an aspect of the film I really enjoyed for its boldness. Excellent PQ on the bluray although I am undecided about the decisions to digitally 'fix' the last scene. Awful popping sounds when it lapses into Italian audio near the end too. Great Luigi Cozzi interview on the disc too and nice to have the longer version in all its poor picture quality.

The Silence of the Lambs - I always thought Hopkins' role in this was a bit too lip-smacking and over-the-top but watching this after Red Dragon his performance comes across as practically understated in comparison. Still a great thriller which holds up well today and still really creepy in parts too.
I hadn't seen it in about 15 years so it was the first time I'd noticed Roger Corman, George Romero and the Fall make their appearances.

My first time seeing this movie. A really great film kept me guessing right to the end.

Watched The Burning for the first time last night, on my iPad at 11:00pm
Probably wasn't a smart idea....
Really good above the par slasher with great effects, sets and a eerie score reminiscent of Day of the Dead.
Unlike the original Friday the 13th, the people scenes were actually really good, making you feel for the characters. Kind of wished Woodstock didn't die.
That final bit with Cropsy and the Blowtorch. Geez that was creepy.
Really hope Arrow release this at some point.

Watched The Last Hunter at last! Very cool, Warbeck is quality as always and nice to Bobby Rhodes turn up for the action too, gutted when he died. One of the best transfers I've seen from Vipco too and as you all know that's saying something...
