I apologise for being insensitive.

I just watched the first episode of The Prisoner. Watched about 8 episodes years ago when they showed some re runs but never got to see the end. Hoping to watch one a night over next few weeks.

Ogre - 2008 Canada TV d: Steven R Monroe

SyFy channel knock-off of The Village. As silly as you would expect, but imbued with surprisingly good camerawork and decent acting. Far more enjoyable than Shyamalan's effort, though Bryce Dallas Howard would have been nice!

Even as late as 2008, the film was obviously shot in 4:3 but broadcast and mastered to DVD at 16:9, which leads to several awkward shots with key elements out of frame.

The star of the show is definitely the ogre's loincloth. Got to respect a modest ogre!

The Last House on Dead End St via a pretty shoddy-albeit uncut-VHS bootleg. Funny how the film is basically separated into two very different halves, with the latter definitely living up to its reputation as terminally grimy!

Watched Eaten Alive (Lenzi) again, and had to laugh at the end when the helicopter pilot goes:

"It gonna be a hell of a one hell of a fancy trick to pull em out of there."

And what's also funny is that then they land very easily within a few seconds and pick them up, but not before they make it the guy hard to get in by already starting to fly up again before he could even get in.

STAR OF DAVID: HUNTING FOR BEAUTIFUL GIRLS - Sleazy Nikkatsu horror - porn from the director of 'School of the Holy Beast'. It's much harsher than the latter film, and features a Nietzsche-quoting nazi rapist who 'hunts for beautiful girls' before giving them a thrashing in the cellar of his mansion. I'm amazed that films like this were produced on relatively big budgets in 70s Japan - it's pretty transgressive, but plays out like an artistically concerned, carefully made studio drama (whilst remaining utterly exploitative in tone). There are subtexts involving the nature of good and evil, nature versus nurture and the fate of a humanity which teeters on the brink of its spiritual void, but most will remember it for endless crotch zooms in Bava-lit dungeons and a vibe of sheer hatred.
DAMONENBRUT - Andreas Bethmann always seems to get dissed for his own brand of porno horror, but I take it for what it is. In this case, the first hour for me definitely outweighs the second in terms of interest - what starts as a shoddy but dream-like amalgam of nudity, tentacle porn and slo-mo demonic cackling gives way to more a more conventional zombie shoot-'em-up. I imagine the live action hentai aspect of this remains the selling point for interested parties - it's brief, but oddly satisfying in an x-rated Pertwee era Dr Who type special effect kind of way. I wouldn't call it 'fun', but it's at least a sickly delight for those who know what they're in for.
