The Plague Of The Zombies - 1966 UK d:John Gilling A hoot to see this on the big screen all tarted up. I would have preferred the colour to be a bit hotter and more saturated (as usual) but it looks amazing considering. You can really tell this was a "cheap 'n' quick" job from Hammer, it's technically a bit clumsy (which at times works to its favour) in terms of photography - and watch out for André Morrell repeatedly and obviously changing into a much younger and thinner stuntman during his fight scene! Not one of Hammer's absolute pinnacle pictures, but a bloody good one and thoroughly enjoyable. I'll be buying the Blu-Ray for sure. |
