This was awesome. 4 insane mental patients, doesn't get any better then that for me. Throw in some supernatural elements..wow, great watch. Whats keeping this film from a 9 even a 10 from me is the camera work, I should say editing. I felt it was all over the place. Sometimes you couldn't see much cause of the dark. The gore is fantastic and so was the storyline. I would love to see a sequel.

Ex Machina, 2015. 5/10

A bit boring for me, predictable but pretty to look at, I kept looking at the clock too see how much time was left in the movie. Her robotty arms were creepy in one running sequence.

Throwback, 2013. 7/10

aussie Bigfoot. : ) Streuth!

The Redwood Massacre, 2014. 8/10

Gore, gore, blood, guts, more guts, axe. <3 UK slasher!

Full review for The Reptile (1966)

As with other less discussed titles, such as Hands of The Ripper, the combination of Hammer Studio's high standard of film-making and interesting themes make this one of my favourites of their output. These themes have dual elements of an anti-colonialism slant (as illustrated starkly by the curse which has stricken the doctors daughter due to his unwise interference in foreign cultures) but also a clear and irrational fear of corruption by a foreign 'other'. This is most clearly illustrated by the cobra 'plague' which Anna (played very well by the very alluring Jacqueline Pierce) in her reptile form administers to her victims and the sinister Malayan manservant who has hold of her and her father. Audiences with a feminist inkling may also find the dinner scene interesting.

The film's atmosphere also benefits hugely from two excellent performances from Micheal Ripper and Noel Willman who are equally engaging and believable as the local bar-owner and Dr. Franklin, respectively. Also lookout for a wonderfully played part by John Laurie as 'Mad Peter'; he perhaps manages to say the most out of the whole cast despite his comparatively limited screen-time.

Suspense is orchestrated brilliantly throughout to maintain a eerie atmosphere, with subtle but perfect use of the titular creature. The standard of cinematography is also of the quality Hammer audiences expect while the make-up is decent, if not outstanding.

All in all, this appears to be a very underrated effort by Hammer and one which, in my opinion, deserves to be talked about more in the context of their output. Great poster aswell.

9/10!

Just watched Dracula Untold.
Draculas origin story told as a Hobbit style epic, even starring Bard the Bowman, Luke Evans as the titular vamp. I imagine a lot hated it but i thoroughly enjoyed it.

The Dead Pool (1988)

Not my favourite of the Clint Eastwood Dirty Harry films nor the worst (Hello Sudden Impact and Sondra Locke). The Dead Pool is a little on the formulaic side with a plot sat somewhere in the middle of slasher and cop thriller.

The film has a few fun set pieces, such as the car chase through San Francisco's streets where Callaghan is being pursued by a nifty remote control car, and a cast to die for if it went into production now (Eastwood, Liam Neeson and Jim Carrey) but on the whole is mainly unmemorable.

Having said that tonight must be the 20th time i've watched it.

Anyone seen Micheal Criton's Coma?

Came across it on a list of 70's films and it looks very interesting.

I think its a cool film, its a slow burner but if you like your Sci-fi/thrillers thoughtful and without lasers and ewoks and explosions then its worth a watch.

Me neither really, but thanks to the winning combination of Meathead, Mick the Rapist and Harry's new .44 AutoMag, I can never get too annoyed with her!
