He is funny in Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, playing a what seems to be a caricature of himself with Dr. Smolder Bravestone having no weaknesses and 'Smouldering Intensity' as one of his (considerable) strengths, though this is all an exterior because the person playing Bravestone is a physically weak nerd. I thought he was excellent, building on the wonderful voice acting he did in Moana.
keirarts and trebor8273 like this.

The Sect (1991)

An overlong exercise in incoherency with what is basically an extended sequence of unconnected scenes. At times dreamlike in it's qualities but more often than not merely sleep inducing. Even the gore was oddly muted. One character has her face pierced by multiple hooks then the skin removed. I've seen more blood the last time i nicked myself shaving.

Disappointing.

The Debt Collector (1994, Anthony Neilson)
Whilst it starts in a Grittish vein and you expect a sombre meditation on rehabilitation and its effects .... this is actually an Exploitative piece of tat masquerading as arthouse. In other words .... right up my street

Jason Goes To Hell (Adam Marcus)
Well ... it's better than Fallen imho. Though not as wacky as The First Power.

Masque of the Red Death
A plaque affects the whole land and an evil prince out of fear kidnaps a woman, her father and her lover for his sadistic pleasure.
This film is nothing but a testament to the competence and efficiency of Roger Corman. Vincent Price is also great as usual and seems to lavish the role.
9/10

My favourite Corman. An astonishing blend of arthouse and Gothic horror.

I like Fallen, was quite happy to fork out a bankruptcy inducing 50p for the DVD from CEX a few years back

Fallen would have been better if they cut the first two hours out and just gone straight to the stand off in the woods.

Quite fancied watching it again, so I went to get it off the shelf ready for later and remembered that I stupidly lent it to someone I used to work with, who now lives in Australia

I also remembered why I don’t lend my films out anymore
