Cheers 42nd.

Based on your comments I don't think I'll be seeking out the UC!

"Mirrors"

Some effective moments and some good performances with one of the most unexpected, and shockingly nasty, deaths seen for a long time.

But the end (seems this guy just loves dubious endings) is a slight head scratcher.
Yes I understand WHAT happened, but I don't know HOW it happened.
Unless the 'mirror' aspect of the plot was not directly linked with the demon and the film is saying mirrors (or reflective surfaces) have this effect ANYWAY...even with no demon in them.
It was never explained.

But still an effective supernatural shocker, with some nicely nasty visuals/FX.

It was very effective with atmosphere and gore effects but it failed badly in script and story. Seemed like he was Jack Bauer half of the time in the 2nd half of the film. The whole nun fight was so so bad .

Watch the original.

Until the end credits I had no idea this was based on "Into the Mirror".
Is there a great difference between the two? And is the ending about the same (and as rather unexplained).

Into the Mirror has a better story and the store has re-opened instead of being closed and burnt still.

The last 5 mins of the ending is the same yes.

Into the Mirror does make more sense though, and is also more memorable!

The only thing I remember from Mirrors is his sister getting offed.

Sutherland will forever be seen as Bauer in any film he's in, hell i watched Young guns the other day and even in that i thought of bauer. I actually enjoyed Mirrors, i think Sutherland gave it something extra. Have never seen Into The Mirror though.

Watched Blue Velvet last night - one of my favourite Lynch films, but I strangely didn't care much for it when I first watched it many years ago... one for the "...matured like a fine wine" thread I think!

I bought a brand new HD LCD TV for the bedroom tonight, so I'm definitely gonna have to christen it later... I'm thinking Bay of Blood.

Flavia The Heretic - Ultimately I found this a little bit disappointing as a film, but full credit to Shameless for a quality transfer.
Is that horse castration for real?
