Another film where the stunts were done for real and it's so much more realistic than today's CGI.

Great review, Nos.
I thought it was a great A/V spectacle on my 55" HD TV – I would love to watch it on a full-size cinema screen with matching sound system.

I agree with your sentiments about the stunts, but think I think that's down to the palpable sense of danger in the film rather than CGI because those car chases exist in a world where it is fully established that any character can die or be seriously injured, really escalating the tension and emotional engagement.

Exactly. However you don't get that feeling of danger in CGI action scenes. Perhaps because they tend to go that bit OTT with CGI meaning you generally have to suspend disbelief.

Having said that there's a terrific CGI car chase through Paris in GI Joe. The best thing about that film.

I haven't seen GI Joe, so can't comment.

The stunt work in Baby Driver was sublime and, with the editing and music, made it one of the best cinematic spectacles of that year.

I know it has some CGI with the characters and slow motion, but I'm constantly amazed by the brilliance of the highway chase scene in The Matrix Reloaded, a great marriage of real action and computer wizardry.

I love it. It's a film with Edgar Wright's normal superb visual storytelling and sense of fun, but is also quite emotive because you really care about the central character. The way Wright integrates music and action, matching the visual and aural beats is something you could watch for pleasure (I've found myself smiling in several scenes) and is something which could be used as a demonstration of the importance of music and editing to action cinema.

I had reservations about watching it recently because of the discomfort I thought I'd feel watching Kevin Spacey in the film but, because he's playing such an unlikeable character, it didn't bother me.

Mission Of Justice (1992, Steve Barnett)

So this is Martial Law III?? NAE ROTHROCK?!@#@!?
Ahem.
Jeff Windbag gets miffed when life doesn't go his way. So he joins a cult headed by a blonde robot. Some unconvincing torture later ... and underhand shenanigans are revealed. The kicking commences in earnest here. The female sidekick is ok but STILL ...
Second tier gold otherwise

Amazonia: The Catherine Miles Story.

I was given a rather bootleggy looking dvd (German??) called White Slave. It turns out to be this .By Cthulhu it's racist . And terribly dull. The print looks a bit cropped and all . Ahem. Cannibal Terror was funnier
