THE GAME-Arrow You know,if we don't have a Fincher thread on here, then I think it's high time we did.I'd be hard pushed to decide which is my favourite of his output, but this highly original thriller from the late '90's certainly comes close. Destined to become a modern classic.

BLOOD GAMES-Vinegar Syndrome Jesus where do I start with this one? You love your exploitation films? Look no further! This one has a bit of everything thrown in! Sexy, likable lead females who ain't afraid to showcase their 'acting talents'! Gratuitous locker/shower room scene. A 'Turkey Shoot' style hunt. A disturbing and graphic rape scene,slo-mo graphic Peckinpah style violence, hissable redneck baddies and to top it off,a sheer ripoff of Jerry Goldsmith's First Blood music....and all directed by a woman,Tanya Rosenberg! In fact the only thing missing is Linda Blair! HIGHLY recommended! BTW-It states on the back of the case this is Region A-It's not,it plays fine in a region B player. Hopefully their other 'Region A' titles are the same....

COLOR OUT OF SPACE-Studio Canal A welcome return to Richard Stanley, whose Hardware and Dust Devil,I'm a big fan of. It's been a long time and though COLOR OUT OF SPACE isn't in the same league as those other two,it's still an enjoyable enough alien romp, with a likable female lead and Cage cranking the 'cage-ometer' up to eleven when the inevitable crackup comes. No extras. Not even a trailer.

Final Destination-EIV The original and best of the FD films. I thought this was the bees knees back in the day,and though it's still a cracking ride, the CGI is begining to look a bit hokey now. Remember the great 'you will die on' game in the extras? Doesn’t seem to be on the Bd.....

After watching the Hannibal tv show, it's strange to watch this movie, because in a tv show you get 13 episodes to build tension and story, here you need to try to put everything in 2 hours - not the best, seemed a little rushed in some scenes, and the soundtrack for the good and bad it's too much 80's. |

Village of the Damned. 1960. In the English town of Midwhich a blackout occurs, after the experience the townsfolk appear to be fine but some of the women appear to be pregnant. When the children are born they have the same hair color and same intelligence and have a darker secret. This is a classic British, science Fiction horror that's always been entertaining from the start right to the finish, it may seem low budget but it does work with great cinematography and effects with the children's eyes. George Sanders plays the brother in law of Michael Gwynn who try to solve the mystery of the blackout and the unexplained pregnancies then as the children grow up some unfortunate accidents seem to occur. The film was remade in 1995 by John Carpenter that is a decent remake (IMHO). p219_v_v8_aa.jpg

Here we go.. must be me having a brain fart. download.jpg LIFE RETURNS (1935) Quite miserable Universal 'Horror'?. The movie is based around a supposed real life experiment and real footage of bringing a dog back to life. The best actor is the dog playing the dog before the operation. Terrible! s-l1600 (1).jpg MURDER BY DEATH (1976) Great comedy in which the worlds greatest detectives are invited to a mansion to solve a murder. |
