Born To Fight (2004, Panna Rittikrai)

From the director of Ong Baks 2 and 3 comes this high octane action fest (not arf!). Why isn't this better known? It's bonkers. An ex cop and his athlete sister go out to the countryside on a PR stunt. Sadly nasty types are floating around.
Some mental stunts ensue ... the odd explosion ... etc.

I Saw The Devil. 2010.

When a sadistic killer kills the daughter of the chief of police, her fiancee a trained secret agent goes on a hunt for the killer, can a man become a monster to stop a monster?

American and British gave us decent revenge films like Death Wish and Harry Brown, along came the Japanese and basically said "what you can do we can do better". This is my first time seeing this and certainly won't be the last, Byung-hun Lee plays the heartbroken Soo-hyeon set on a path of self destruction against crazed killer Jang played brilliantly by Min-sik Choi who plays a cat and mouse game. The acting, directing and cinematography is done brilliantly well and the fight choreography is done amazingly, just when you thought Soo catches the guy they start playing their game again. Well worth a watch.

'High Rise'. No idea how this was received, but I have a feeling it's a love or hate reaction.
Me, I quite liked it. Though, I just happened to be in the right mood for something so...'excessive'. Maybe not the right word to describe it - absurd might be closer to the mark. A bit long, would be one of my only criticisms.
My viewing was interrupted, so watched it in two sittings - not ideal, and I actually fancy a rewatch.

I really liked it.

Ben Wheatley attempts the unfilmable (No, not Into the Dalek) and produced something remarkably watchable.

If this is the one I think it is, I really want to see it.
The main guy goes after rapist/killer and hunts him down to cause him harm but not kill him multiple times to make him suffer??

Avoid the UK release. It's heavily cut.

That's shame but thanks for the warning because I almost bought it in HMV a few weeks back and it's been on my radar!

Actually this makes interesting reading. I'd always avoided the film because i simply presumed it was cut for violence / sex etc but it seems both versions of the film are worthwhile as the cut version is two minutes longer than the uncut release.

Read on....

As I haven't read the novel on which it's based, I can treat the film as a stand-alone achievement rather than an adaptation. I think of seen it twice and both times found to be superbly constructed with brilliant performances and is riveting to watch. It's been a long time since I've seen it, so it's overdue a rewatch.

The film is relatively sane compared to the book tbh Nos.

Relatively.
