The Oracle. 1985.

Jennifer moves into a new apartment and finds a planchete that belonged to the former tenant, at a party with her friends they decide use it and Jennifer begins to get messages from a murdered victim and investigates their death, as well as other people begin to be found dead.

What we got here is a low budget horror from a female director who worked on the...adult entertainment films shall we say and is able to pull of a dark crime thriller/horror, yeah it may go off the rails slightly but then goes back on track. The acting is not the best but the actors do try to make it worth while, i never realised it was set during the festive season so looks like I got another Christmas film added to my watch list, it is strangely entertaining.

THE QUIET ONES. ( 2014 )

A professor and his students conduct various experiments on a young woman who appears to be possessed by some kind of demonic force.
This film at the outset seemed to tick all the boxes for me - the Hammer name, spooky story and the 70s setting. However, apart from a couple of songs on the radio at the beginning of the film, there is little use of the Seventies setting. For a lot of the time, it could be set in any era to be honest.
Although quite creepy in places, it just didn’t seem to hit the mark for me. Worth a watch, but not something to return to. Shame.

BORN FOR HELL. ( 1976 )

From a film supposedly set in the 70s, to one which actually was set ( and filmed ) in that decade, interestingly set against the backdrop of the Troubles in N Ireland.
A distinctly troubled Vietnam war veteran lands in Belfast and sets about infiltrating and murdering a group of student nurses.
The claustrophobic setting of the nurses’ house helps to give a grimy feel to this one, which could have been much more exploitative than it is, particularly considering the cast of Euro starlets here.
The ‘Belfast’ accents are all over the shop - explained in one of the excellent extras as, although filming was done in Belfast, most of the location filming was done in Dublin. Good release of a rarely seen film from Severin.

I have this on an Italian dvd titled Naked Massacre. It's a pretty poor print.

Body Double (1984)

Brian De Palma's highly voyeuristic and sleazy take on Hitchcock's Rear Window with flashes of Vertigo in which B-movie horror actor Craig Wasson spies on Deborah Shelton sexily undressing in her Hollywood hills home not knowing that it will lead to him witnessing murder.

There's a drill murder which makes Body Double feel like a slasher film and enough kinky sex for it to appear almost pornographic (Although it really isn't) in what is a deliciously tense twisty turny thriller of the highest standards.

X-Men: The Last Stand (2006)

Although derided by comic book fans for being a mass of storylines - a cure for the mutant gene and Jean Grey (Famke Janssen) turning to the 'dark side' with Magneto and becoming Dark Phoenix, i rather like it.

It's fast paced and technically spectacular with some great action set pieces and ends up a crowd friendly superhero blockbuster. Kudos also for ditching the boring Cyclops (James Marsden) early doors and adding Kelsey Grammer's Hank (The Beast) McCoy to proceedings.

The Complex: Lockdown. 2020.

After a biological attack, two scientists along with a terrorist are in a Lockdown situation when the building is breached and tough decisions are made.

This is one of those movies that suddenly appeared on YouTube so I had no idea what I was getting into, Kate Dickie takes lead as a researcher/CEO of a company that deals in nano-bites and a terrorist or more like campaigner wanting to bring the company down. This isn't fast paced and a slow burner that seems to want focus on character building then by passes it, the acting is mediocre and at times dull.

Switch off your brain or just remove it and enjoy the OTT ride that ignores common sense and the laws of physics. This Time Dom and his crew have too stop Doms long lost brother (John Cena) and his group of terrorists . Gasp and laugh at a car flying in space!

This film is so absurd that the rumours of a a fast and furious / Jurassic park crossover would seem tame and normal!

Now watching.

The Terror Experiment. 2010.

When a bomb goes off in a high rise office building and a toxic gas leaks through the ventilation system, a group of survivors try to fend of a horde of mutated people.

This has gone through a few title changes, The Terror Experiment, Fight or Flight, The Virus Experiment...surprised it was never taglined as The Crazies meets Resident Evil, basically that's what this was, little bit on the cheap side with the so called CGI effects, C. Thomas Howell, Jason London, Judd Nelson and Robert Carradine star in this. It does have it's claustrophobic tendencies, there is a added twist to the story, this sort of film shouldn't work but it was mildly entertaining, just hope the actors got a decent pay check.

Although i've always loved this film and find it comfort viewing it has in the past always seemed a little less in your face when it came to the gut wrenching gore. However watching the unrated director's cut on the recent Fabulous Films Blu-ray, i was wrong.

The gore is there from the start and if anything i'd say there's perhaps more gore than any of the other films. From arm and neck biting to entrails being ripped from bodies to shotgun blasts to the head. Maybe it's simply a case of there being better detail and colours in HD, i don't know, but this did seem an altogether more graphic affair than the directors cut dvd i have.

I still think Land of the Dead is Romero's most entertaining zombie film.
TBH, even though that this got a theatrical release, I always thought that this felt like a bigger budget straight to DVD type sequel along with Diary Of The Dead and Survival Of The Dead.

It's like when a band would release a new Album after releasing a Greatest Hits Album.

Even though it's a good Film, I never really thought of it has a sequel to the original 3.

But that's my opinion
