Magic Crystal (1986, Jing Wong)

Can I just say first that this has to be the most HK of all the HK films that I've seen?

When a family acquires some jade on holiday, it's not too much to say all hell breaks loose ahem.
Just yer average faaaamily orientated action thriller then
As always the set pieces are fun, and if that's not your bag, there's always Richard Norton's hilarious two tone mullet to bask in ...
The 'rock acquits herself admirably as an Interpol agent who joins in the fun.
Recommended.
(Decent print on the YT cough)

Conjuring The Genie.

A young girl is asked to present a paper on a urban legend and releases a genie from a amulet that has consequences.

This was a mix of the 80s film The lamp and Wishmaster, except this was made in England, ITN movies seem to be a knock off British studio of Asylum movies, the acting was not great except the girl turning into a doll, that girl knew how to act. The Genie looks like the love child of Rawhead Rex and Sasha Banks without her make up, decent enough for background niose and very forgettable.

The Bad Nun.

Aesha is sent to a B&B in Kent for the weekend to study and begins to be tormented by a nun in the doorway.

I really need to find better stuff to watch when i'm at work in the early hours of the morning, the nun costume looks like it was from Armchair Thriller: Quiet As A Nun, which is what the nun should have been, you have a girl that sees a noose and still doesn't run or use her untied hands to release herself. The plot seemed ok with the background of what happened but didn't really explain a great deal, to be honest this was more comical than scary.

Fear Street: 1994. The first of a linked Netflix trilogy of teen horror movies. A bunch of teens living in "the psycho capital of the world" discover their town's gruesome history is down to the curse of a vengeful witch - and now they're on her hit list. This 2020 teen horror flick was waaaay better than I was expecting or had any right to be. It's set in the 90s, and definitely has the feel of a late 90s teen horror flick, but I was just surprised by how engaging it was. Interesting story, likeable characters, good pacing and even some cute lesbians. What more can any man ask for for an evening's entertainment?
I just hope the other two are as good.

The Leprechaun's Game.

A group of thieves are hired by a wealthy man to hunt for a urban legend, a leprechaun's pot of gold, so they can be displayed in a museum of rare objects. The group soon find themselves at the mercy of the leprechaun.

I'm sure some of us if offered £1000 to find the gold and be told it may cost you your life, we would ask for more 0's on the end of the price, nobody seems that smart in this film. I loved the Warwick Davies movies and had no high hopes for this, I always thought the mischievous man from Irish folklore was only 3 foot tall and not 5 foot tall , the acting wasn't that great but the make-up effect for a burned person was decent, watchable to a certain degree, it's not perfect.

I don't know why but in the last 24 hours I have seemed to have found really sh@t horror movies, I know the titles can be a bad giveaway but never judge a film by it's title but sheesh i'm scarred for life now
