Revenge. 2017.

Jen goes with her married lover to the middle of Morocco desert before his friends appear for a hunt. When Jen is raped and believed to be dead, she vows to get revenge.

I Spit on Your Grave meets the Hills Have Eyes but no mutated people running about or any snippy snippy with tickle tackle. Matilda Lutz plays Jen who somehow survives a cliff drop with a sudden stop on a tree stump and able to do home made cortorisation with a beer can. It goes to show you don't need big budget to make a decent revenge film and show a bit of creativity for the victim. Some good cringe worth moments. A mix of english and french language with subtitles.

A cracking follow up to Inside (2007) from French directors Julien Maury and Alexandre Bustillo.

A film which fore goes the visceral punishing terror of that film and instead plays out like a twisted fairy tale from the Brothers Grimm with all the sick shit left in.

Most definitely influenced by Dario Argento, specifically Suspiria (1977) and 1980's Inferno, Livide is a haunting dream like film set in an old dark house populated by a decrepit witch like vampire and the veiled corpses of ballerinas.

Livide is strange, unnerving and deliciously bloody. I loved this when it first came out and think i love it even more now.
Great film, this gets better with every viewing, this and Martyrs on a double feature viewing is recommended for a good cringe worthy night.

I've never really loved Martyrs. I just thought it wasn't all that. The first half at the house is good but i became bored during the second half.

I need to see their latest, The Deep House. Added it to my Amazon wishlist earlier tonight.

Yes it does. Not your typical haunted house film is it.

Think i'll go with either Among the Living or Leatherface now and be asleep for one.

If it's possible to sleep after watching stuff from Maury and Bustillo
