Upcoming UK DVD Thread

Surprised that I couldn't find a thread like this... I'm sure it exists somewhere though.

Anyway, found this whilst browsing HMV earlier. Coming from Anchor Bay in January 2011.

That new Franco box will contain most of the stuff they released a few years back and half of them are cut. Nice cover though:

Attachment 7272

Luckily, I already have the uncut versions.

bdc 21st November 2010 06:08 PM

Cannibal Girls is coming next year from Nucleus.
Seems their PR department wanted it delayed till next year...
I've heard that Marc Morris did some additional restoration and that the UK disc will have more extras than the US dvd.

Cannibal Girls [DVD]: Amazon.co.uk: Eugene Levy, Andrea Martin, Ivan Reitman: DVD

Shame that some are cut. Agree on the cover too - not at all bad.

Indeed!

AB released aroud 21 Franco DVD's, so I wonder what has been dropped?

the blob 21st November 2010 06:55 PM

Or alternatively, which one has been added to the first two boxsets, seeing as there were 14 films in those together.. :)

Maybe even just an extra disc of special features?

Mojo 26th November 2010 06:39 PM

I'll be picking up the Cannibal Girls release too.

I'm also looking forward to this:

A Taste Of Excitement - Crime & Thriller DVDs at Play.com (UK)

I'd never even heard of this one, but it looks like a kind of UK giallo / thriller. Anyone seen it?

bdc 26th November 2010 06:55 PM

Never seen it but will be considering a purchase. ;)

bdc 27th November 2010 08:10 PM

Just got a message from Amazon...

I wonder why?

Looks like the bizarre Death Game is getting a UK release ( under the title of The Seducers ).

http://www.play.com/DVD/DVD/-/2521/1...archtype=genre

Wonder what the quality of this will be. At £4.99 I'm not expecting much :D but the US release is bloody awful.

bdc 14th January 2011 07:17 PM

Haven't seen a lot of promotion yet from their pr department (who advised to delay it :loco:).

I don't think it's been mentioned anywhere else here, but in addition to Optimum releasing Rolling Thunder on dvd and blu-ray, they will also be releasing Enter the Ninja and Revenge of the Ninja on dvd on May 30th 2011. They can keep their copy of Enter The Ninja though, It's been cut by over 1 minute by the BBFC.

What! In this day and age Stephen!? Thought this would sail through these days. Are you sure its not a pre-cut edition that has been submitted to the BBFC?

No violence cut from the film. The cuts are to 2 scenes featuring cockfights.

bizarre_eye@Cult Labs 7th April 2011 12:13 PM

Wonder if its a restored print?

I have it 3 times with 3 different titles, all ropey picture quality

The dodgy print issue is the reason why I haven't picked it up on DVD yet.

I hope it is a restored version, however the low-end sales price is possibly an indication that it won't be, unfortunately. :(

Stephen@Cult Labs 12th April 2011 05:10 AM

Here's the artwork for Optimum's releases of Revenge Of The Ninja and Enter The Ninja. Prepare to be happy. :)

I'm even prepared to put up with the Irish certificates on the cover for that artwork!

The Reaper Man@Cult Labs 12th April 2011 05:46 PM

I had a Guild video poster of ROTN back in the day.
Damn,I wish I had kept all that stuff!

Splatterdragon73 16th April 2011 10:41 AM

Nice one, Optimum and i do hope the trailers are included, too.

Otherwise i'm still holding on to MGM's R1 ROTN DVD despite the full-frame ratio.:)

The BBFC site shows that the trailer for ROTN was passed at the beginning of March.

Reaps, i know the feeling all too well!

The plethora of video shop posters and cardboard standees i owned only to get rid of 'em really makes me regret such a foolhardy decision.

As the great Arthur Daley once said "What a comforting thought. One is not alone in one's suffering.".

Good man and does the same go for ETN?

Looks like it may be time for me to dispense with the aforementioned U.S. release after all, then.:)

Stephen@Cult Labs 16th April 2011 01:06 PM

Nothing on the BBFC site about a trailer being passed for Enter The Ninja yet
