Cover doesn't look well defined.
Get the cover out and feel it and also checked if it's been cut out.
Check the dvd labels, check the color of the dvd's.

Ask for a link where he bought his "exclusive version".

eBay doesn't bother with bootleggers it seems so go for the refund ot take your chances with paypal...
Threatening to hit him with a neg might put you in a better position to negotiate (if he doesn't have a lot of negs) but this should be used as a last resort.

Cheers bdc, it is clearly not genuine but he has offered to refund if I send it back so I'll just do that.

Problem you have with that though is he could take the DVD back and not refund you at all. It's an awkward situation to be honest. I've been there myself and had to go through paypal to try and get my money back. The whole process took about 3 months and I had to prove it was a fake copy by taking it into a video shop and getting the owner to write an official letter to paypal to prove it wasn't a legit copy. Quite a hassle really so I hope it doesn't resort to that for you. Make sure you keep all correspondance with this idiot for future reference just in case.

PS. I love the way he says he'll get his solicitor involved (in bad bad written english I may add), clearly a sign that he's guilty and trying to scare you off.

I hope it doesn't resort to that too. Thing is as well is that it's a region 1 dvd so unless I buy another one from somewhere official like Amazon theres no way to prove it's not real. It's obviously different from Stephen's copy.
If it does get to the point where he won't refund, I won't even bother. I'll just avoid the seller. He's also told me he's told Ebay to remove any negative feedback I give him.

Tell him to give the money back or you'll hunt him down and cut his balls off with a rusty machette and give him no pain killers so he'll feel every slow saw through as it's slicing through them

He's already threatened me with a solicitor after I said that I don't think something he's sold me is genuine, I don't think that would be a smart move.

Don't let that worry you, it's just coward talk by the seller. He's clearly foreign and a crook but don't be intimidated by him at all. Oh and he can't tell ebay not to put on a negative comment, he's just playing you so you back down easy and give in. Just don't do anything to make the situation worse so for now might be best just to send back the DVD and try and get that refund. Once you get the refund make sure you put a negative comment and rating in. He can't delete it or stop it at all. It's his own fault.
